At least we've learned that non-word linked URL's won't crash the whole page, just the message with the link!

If you will just use a word as the link, it won't stretch the window. Actually, the only difference in that way and the way you did it is to put the word(s) you want between the "...url]" and the closing "[/url..." part. I usually make it bold, also.
