{edited the title} Just for GPs.
for those pesky - ants - I've had coming in from the rain.
Found the main hill.
Realized I had some month old - home made chili salsa - left over and gave those bad-boys a salsa bath the other day.
Noticed zero critters be-bopping around looking for munches when I get home.
So I checked the hill.
Those guys and gal are all laying on their backsides catching the suns rays.!. <gr>

Hey Bill, how powerful was that chili? Any strange smells coming from the ant hill?

Well let's just say nothings going to grow (not even weeds) around that hill for a while. <gr>
Got Beachers attention Ryan.

Bill,
You never told me you had an aunt named War.
Is that short for Wardith or something?

I just hope the EPA and the SPA don't monitor this board!
-
Sounds like mighty powerful stuff! Got any left?... I have ants all over the lawn, in the summer you can spot the little hills they use. They make it through the winter just fine...
-
Awe Bill, the title was funny....Should have left it...
-
How 'bout some photos of the aftermath?
Don't forget to erect the "pawls" battle flag atop salsa hill.
DA WINNA!
-
Any prisoners?

One Snuffy but my dog took a sniff and (I guess the salsa) made her sneeze bigtime.
Knocked that last ant to kingdom come.

Here's the latest on THE BATTLE FOR CONDIMENT HILL
Bill. I just couldn't help myself. I'm so sorry.
-
YOU ARE TO MUCH SNUFFY!!!
-
At least you killed them, did you ever think of using Diotamecous Earth? It is a sharp substance (to them, not us) that we use in our grain to take care of bugs. We can't use chemicals because we are organci farmers, but this stuff kills them by cutting them open (literally)
Good job anyway;)

Never heard of it Peter. Yet they're cooked. For now at least.
Here's a funny story I forgot all about.
A few years back a neighbor down the way had a real sever problem with those big black harvester ants.
Well he being a heavy equipment operator. All the big toys in his yard D-10 etc.
He took a blow torch to the ant holes one at a time. ~~Not exactly the sharpest knife in the kitchen type guy~~
While he was pumping flame down one hole his wife was fifteen (or so) feet away messing around in the garden.
The flame flow out of a hole under her biting her smack in the butt!
Needless to say he took a 'forced' three day hunting vacation with his buddies all of a sudden.
-
Snuffy and Bill...
you guys "kill me".
-
-

Smoke them out!
Cool stuff there snuffy!
Ant Bill will need all the help he can get when the rest of the ants in the neighborhood follow a previously constructed pheromone trail to a fugus cashe hidden it his Niki's.

Snuffy, that 'Condiment Hill' design was wonderful!
And so, Bill, is this thread.
Any idea what your chili salsa might do for my struggling geraniums?
