April 1st... wouldn't you know it, my replacement power supply arrived today!

No April Fool's joke here though. It took me just under an hour to complete the job following the supplied instructions.

What a difference!! All there is now is a low level whrrrrr sound. I can actually hear the hard drive working now.

Mine's been pretty good but quieter is always nice.
