I did a bad thing. I tried to do a reinstall of OS X and now I've lost all my library settings etc and the reinstall did not even fix the little problem I thought I had.

Please tell me there is a way (as in OS 9) to go back to the previous folder and make it the boss.

I'm timed constrained today so hope someone can get back to me quick.

Ronald, did you do an archive and install or did you wipe the drive and start over? Archive and install should preserve your libraries and all your settings. Which version of X are you using?

Archive and install.

Everything is still on the HD just none of my settings or updates. Is there a way to copy them all over from the Previous System?

Thank you Paddy. I was actually the one writing you from Ron's computer and trying to help him out with the problem I hope to attach below, but think I made his day worse. Oh hum. I got everything back to normal, I believe, after upgrading everything again and reinstalling some software.

As you can see their are 5 aliases on the MacIntosh HD all of which are trailed by (MacOS 9). Why are they there?
