Doesn't seem to include mac software.

Kelly, if you look way down at the bottom of the page (on the dealer's page, not DealMac's) there is a drop down menu for software. Nero is free, Toast Lite adds $23.
I assume that it is the Lite-On 52246S. Other World have it for $149, including Toast 5.x - they don't specify if it's the full or the "lite" version.
The CDRW itself (IDE) can be had for as little as $47 plus shipping - no software, from my hunting on www.pricewatch.com the other day. I'm thinking of replacing my CD/DVD in my Sawtooth with one, since I never use the DVD capability and my existing Firewire drive is slooooow. I don't have Toast on the Powerbook either and find for my needs, the built in burning capability of Jag is just fine. That may change some day - if it does, I'll probably want the full version of Toast.
Of course, another option is removing the existing Plextor drive from the Firewire case and dropping the new Lite-On into it...

Hmm. Not sure if you're saying that's a good deal or not.
For myself. I'll probably get an even slower and cheaper
Lite-On as a second Optical for this MDD some time.
I already have Toast Titanium .
Toast 5 Lite for $18
