Title: OS X "List" puzzle
Post by: RHPConsult on April 08, 2003, 10:12:00 AM
I may not be paying close enough attention (to something/anything), but I'm finding that the "traditional" List View by Date Modified doesn't seem to be functioning in my OS X windows.

I  thought it did when I first started using X months ago, but did something change with the appearance of Jaguar that I missed?

Specifically, even though I do not have  size  or  kind selected, lists seem to appear sorted that way, while my preferred  date modified choice is not operating.

Huh?

Hmm, strange... it works here
Maybe you accidentally clicked on the little gray triangle?
That makes the date switch between oldest and newest on top.
Other than that... i wouldn't know why it doesn't work with you?

Nope, Marcel.

Date modified just never seems to "function", irrespective of how it's ordered, recent-to-ancient, or the converse.

Dick,

I don't know if this will help or not but when I was having some Finder problems, I was instructed be an Apple tech to create a new user. Then log out and back in using the new user. If your problem is corrected, it's a Finder preference gone bad.

Now if I could remember which file you're supposed to Trash.

If my memory serves me correctly, you locate the user folder that you normally use and look inside for Library> Preferences> com.apple.finder.plist.

Drag that plist to the desktop and then log out and then back in to your regular user name. That preference can be trashed and the new user can be deleted.

Hey, Bruce.

Hadn't heard/thought of that.

Great idea.

Thanks
