Title: Uh-oh, 7100 CD ROM drive won\'t open

Well, spoke too soon. The CD Rom drive won't open. Maybe I didn't put it back together right? Any suggestions off the tops of your heads? Back to the manual. Curses.

Took case off and put back on, now CD ROM drive is behaving nicely. Sorry to be an alarmist. I didn't mean this to be a narration minute by minute of this project.

Hi Joan. Can you eject CDs by dragging to Trash?  

It might be that the cover is not lined up and the button isn't hitting just right.

Or the power connector could be on backwards I suppose.

Like I say. I've never worked on one.

Kelly, you were exactly right, the cover wasn't lined up perfectly, so the button wasn't making contact. Whew. That ebay picture is the same machine. Nobody even wants it for $19.99.
