Title: Sonnet Tango 2.0 and price drops on upgrades

Figures...a month after I bought my upgrade!     Oh well...

Wonder when or if Apple will see fit to include USB 2 in their machines? Soon, one would hope. Firewire is great - but it's more expensive to implement (and therefore, buy). Firewire and USB are quite complementary standards from what I've read, so it makes sense to include the latest version of both.

USB 2.0 spec is faster anyways, YES?

If it in fact is faster, it's definitely the way to go, and even if it's not, the cost, as you said, for FW stuff is high.

Take care.

USB 2.0 is way faster than USB 1.1 - it equals and in some cases outpaces Firewire - the original IEEE 1394 standard, that is. Of course, Apple is now putting Firewire 800 in its new machines (IEEE 1394b) and doubling the Firewire speed to 800 Mbps.

Interesting comparison of FW and USB 2.0:

For info on FW 800:

With the new Windows version ipods using USB2 I would expect Apple to ultimately add that support to their computers after the initial "cool" factor of FW 800 is over.
