Thanks Kelly, order is in and money is out....
Geez, I spent $25 more on an 80GB HD about 4 months ago....This is a great deal...

Recieved the hard drive yesterday and installed it this morning.
Working great so far.
Infact, benchmark results are extremely impressive.
15% faster than my Maxtor 80GB w/ 2MB cache.
And a whooping 60% faster than my Western Digital 20GB w/ 2MB cache.
All drives are installed to my SIIG 133 IDE controller card.
Here's the documented results.

It only took six days Al? Or would that be five? SOooo confused on these over-the-water/time zone thingies.
What ever the time was, that's great!
Those guys are about forty minutes drive from my front (if ya whanna call it that) porch.

Yeah, Bill, it took 5 days. It was sent FedEx 2day air, so it was late. Usually arrives a day late, this time, three days late. Never the less, it arrived and is smokin'!
I recommend this drive highly!

Bummers sandbox, I don't find it either. But they still have the 180 GB drive...

Thanks Al, I wasn’t really buying just yet, I’m trying to keep the size to a minimum also. It takes so long to run diagnostics on huge HD’s. As soon as I figure out how much media room I need to capture surveillance video I’ll buy something. Right now I’m going to use a 40 gig XFW.
It's wasn't that long age I bought a 9gig scsi for around $50?
and thought it was a good deal....

I hear ya, sandbox, about the maintenance thing on large drives. That's why I got this drive and only partitioned it in two, also got it for the speed. One partition for video editing and the other for Photoshop scratch disk, both when done will not have much stored on them. The 80GB drive is the one storing multitudes of information and programs, that is the one I actually partitioned 6 ways, so each partition stays less that 15GBs each.
The one thing that I am concerned about when maintenancing the 120GB drive is if I ever have to check for bad blocks, that WILL take forever and hopefully I won't have to do it for a long LONG time.
I read about your survelance camera idea and think it is really , kinda like a Tivo for security. Good luck with it.
