2003 / Jaguar/Classic Printing Issue

I am looking for some help on this topic and this is the only post I find.
I am having a similar problem. We have an iMac 350/G3 that we just loaded Jaguar onto. I am trying to print from MS Word 98 in Classic to a Lexmark Z25 printer. When I start to print, I get all the spooling screens and then an error beep. The print monitor shows up in the Dock, bounces up a couple of times and them goes away, and no printing. When I look under the Apple menu in classic, the Lexmark control panel icon has an "X" through it.
We have no problem printing from OS X apps. I re-loaded the drivers, checked that all the extensions and control panels needed are active, and have re-started Classic. This usually does not work, but on a couple of times, after classic starts, the print monitor shows up and the documents start to print. But this usually is not the case. I have tried printing from other Classic apps and get the same problem.
And how do you boot into OS 9?
I am frustrated, and my wife is irked. Any help would be useful.
Thanks,
Gary
