I followed the various suggestions and found the problem..ME !! I had typed in http://saffari/1.1 In the blank area where Safari opens, and then got the sign saying "could  not  be found". I removed that, removed safari as a home page and now it works as ususal. Fine. I think it was Tacit and Greg that gave me the suggestions, and I thank you so very, very much. From now on I will try to keep these curious fingers out of that which they do not understand. Thank you !!!! cheer.gif

I am so embarassed by all the gobbedegook I posted by tying to see if anyone understood my "crash" thing. I have tried to delete it, but t does not work. Can anyone in charge remove the mess I made ? In the meantime, I am going to print out  all the good suggestions given and try to follow them. I apologize for messing up so badly. The box still comes up saying "Server not found. Could open the page"http://Safari/1.1 because the Server: Safari could not be found." I think I may have messed up somewhere by trying to make it a server or home page or some dumb thing, so will try to rectify it by following your good suggestions after I print them out. Thank you. Jenny, It is so weird. I click on the Safari Icon and a box comes up saying" Server not found. could not open the page "http://safari/1.1 because te server Safari could not be found. Yet I an click on the favorites listed there and still enter. I did look in my applications and after scrounging around came up with the following. Hope it is not to lengthy to print here. June

Jennie...thank you so much for directing me back. Once I did as you suggested it all fell into place.

I have a problem.  I think it was Kelly that helped  me entoer Safari on my eMac, and I have enjoyed it tremendously...much more  than MIE...but today it just quit. I can't remember the exact terminology, but it implied it could not be found. How could that happen overnight, and how can I recover it ? Any suggestions ? June

Hello Dear Friends, Just checking in to wish you all the very best of everything in your lives this coming year. All is well in my household, and I pray it is the same with you. My eMac is percolating along very nicely, so I have no complaints to offer,  just very thankful. I do miss you all but the days do not contain enough hours to my being here frequently. Thank you for being here, TS is one of the nicest things that has ever happened to me. Love to you all. June

Bill...no rain here today, just cool and cloudy. Riverside county will no long share the 909 phone prefix with San Bernardino starting July.....14......I think the day is. how come they get to keep 909 and we have to switch to 951 ?? Somebody playing favorites ?? My son and DIL are winging their way to Fla. at the moment, then tomorrow they emark on a cruise in the Caribbean. I sure hope they have good weather....they deserve a beautiful time. Gary, our son,  is maintenance supervisor for the Fullerton school system..a headache type  of job, so the cruise is a welcome escape.

The rain to me was beautiful....I have loved rain from childhood, and how I ended up in a semi-desert area I will never know. We live in a more elevated area than Hemet proper, so all our water runs down hill. There was about an inch of water between my driveway and my neighbors home, but it drained quickly. No watering necessary here for a while.  biggrin.gif  One huge thunder boomer closed down my computer..I had it in sleep mode, and we so  seldom get a storm like this one, I didn't think to unplug as my East Coast friends do. But it started right up later on. YAY for Macintosh !!!!!

Good Grief Dick !! I just looked at all that stuff you suggested, and my eyeballs are spinning and my brain feels weak. I couldn't possibly digest all that information in a million years..and it just gives me more words that I do not understand the meaning of. However.......I know that if I ever get bored...there are more things to learn, so I appreciate your guiding me to that area. And thank you for the Find information..many times I have typed in things that it could not find, and now I know why. June

Jepinto.......thank you !! Now I understand..is is like a brand name...I thought it was something that did some sort of action...like maximize something. Duh...I feel very comfortable with it now. Apple  does not always make things simple for us, and that is why I thank you all for being here to unravel what is not understood. Thank you all.....so very much. June

Bill, correct. It  is GB Maxtor.
What  do you mean by my hard drive being "Maxtor" ?

Gary,What is HDD ??

Jepinto, I tried to copy and paste what mine says, but it wouldn't work. The top item is 38.29 GB Maxtor, then below that is the Hard drive Icon, and both icons are identical......so......... do I understand correctly that "Maxtor" is really my hard drive, and my Hard disk or as listed HD is like an alias ??

Sorry I am so obtuse.....but I am trying....honest.  blush-anim-cl.gif
