2008 / OT Utility not found
« on: February 16, 2008, 05:55:52 PM »
Thank you both for trying to help me. The next Question i'll go into more detail. Paddy ,i went to the two sites you mentioned. The second one was very helpful. I reinstalled 9.2.2 and that fixed most everything. Two items were only halfed fixed. But i found they had updates and that fixed that.
Even Disk Utility works now on both Hardrives. I only have two issues now , which i will delve into later.
Quicken 7, And retrival of OutLook Express 5.0.2.

Can't thank you all enough. Very Frustating.

                                              Mike

QUOTE(Paddy @ Feb 10 2008, 06:40 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Mike, Open Transport isn't used in OS X. Do you have Classic installed? See:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Open_Transport

I don't know what is really missing - have you tried doing an archive and install? And why are you still running 10.3.2 on the external drive (just curious...)?

When exactly do you get this message? What do you mean when you say "serious failure" - what failed? What is/isn't working now? More info needed methinks, in order to track down this issue.

I've had a look on my Mac and there is nothing called "OT..."

Thank you Paddy for your response. There must be something wrong with my classic. I have classic and OS 9.2.2  also i can't recover OutLook Express 5.0.2, it says i don't have enough Memory. I have 60.67GB of free memory and 768Mb of Ram, on my internal drive.
On my exteral drive 60.66GB, Maybe i need more Ram?.
Heres what happened. My hardrive started to fail, this dummy put my info on a external laptop HD. Doesn't know how he did it.
In so duing somehow my internal HD with 10.3.9 went to 10.3.2 on the Ext HD. That took 8 weeks. Did a clean install of 10.3.
  9. Hardrive failed again. New HD with 10.3.9.
That started to have issues. Did aclean install with 10.3.9.
Issues now OT cannot be foundin USB Printer Sharing,Microsoft component Lib,Ticker Tool 2.5.4,maybe others.

Can't recover OutLook Express 5.0.2 not enough memory.
My Experience has been 2 to 3 years throw them away, before troubles begin.

There are only 5 Shops in my county all 20 to 25 miles away , none are to good, no help from Apple for them.
Theres more but why bother. 5 different Macs in 7 Years. Not a good record. Spent up to $500 on each of them!.

I had a serious Failure on my G4, 933, OS 10.3.9 and my external Hard Drive OS 10.3.2. Both show OT utility not found. I'm assuming OT means Open Transport?. Iv' e searched for weeks thru Forums, Apple help, and  service Technicians to no avail.
I would like to find it and restore it or install on my two hardrives. Any clue or help would be greatly appreciated.

                                                             Thank you

Kelly: Fantastic, the articles covered everything but the cuda button.
I have it apart and the 3.6v battery reads 3.66v. The top housing that holds the battery in was in the bottom of the computer. Looked all over for a cuda switch, did not see one, no mention in the articles you gave me. Earlier Macs had them.
Will try a new battery anyway. Thanks a million.

Thanks Kelly for the reply. I'm doing terrible but normal!.  I didn't think of the battery because the clock has always been right.Been trying all day to find out how to get to  the other side of the case. Left sides comes right off but has a big plastic air duct in the way.
I can see the 3.6v lithium battery, with a terminal at each end, snaps in.
Can't find the Cuda switch. There's just a little info on this oddball.
Thanks again , i'll keep trying.

CD drawer will not open. External ZIP  drive has no power.Monitor does not light
up.No tones just some sounds then quits. Fan runs.

Thanks for reponding.TS and other forums will not scroll with either mouse. On both computers and both mice  will scroll only the contents of the hard drives, nothing else.
If you click on the hard drives, all whats on the hard drive shows up.
The program ,date entered, date modified , size and issue.
It will scroll this so you don't have to use the up and down arrows.
Niether mice work with scroll on anything else.
I did check updates on both mice and both computers. IF it worked i could use either mouse on either computer.
I will try Pref /panes.  Thanks again.

Sometimes if you shutdown and  reboot solves some of the problems.
Especially if you leave your your puter on all the time.

Gunug your right ,only use Powdered Grafite on locks, it also helps to remove bumper stickers. Does a job on killing  bugs. Great for chasing water off freshly Bored engine blocks ,or milled heads. Won't rust.
On squeaking belts i use RTV silicone instead of WD-40 it dosen't sling off and make a mess.

When i was a kid we took a spring clothes pin and make a match gun. It not only fired a kithen match but lite it too. Fired one on the house roof that had pine needles on it , caught  them on fire in which caught the wooden roof shingles on fire .Got it put out with little damage.
