Thanks for the nice greeting.

I haven't been around much lately, I have lurked but not posted.

I am still recovering from my lung cancer surgery, but each day, makes it a little easier. My main problem is this darn oxygen tank I have to carry around with me. I am doing it, because I am determined to get out and see people, drive anywhere want, go to the gym, cook my own food, etc.

Not too bad for an 82 year old, I guess.

Tech / Steve Jobs dies

Such sad news - he fought the brave fight.

I am sad for his family - they have been under a lot of stress for a few years, especially his wife.

We are all here on this board as a result of Steve Jobs, a genius, I believe.

I have been watching all of the coverage on the TV - one show that really was touching was the Lou Dobbs show - a two hour tribute, incuding many people who came on to tell a little about this great man, who accomplished so very much in his short time on earth.

God speed, Steve.

Tech / Fanbox is a hoax, I got caught

I opened it on the computer so I guess the E-mail will start coming. So far, though, nothing, and I received it about 6 days ago.

I have a neighbor who has been receiving calls from some guy in Nigeria asking for money, of course. She never puts anything on her computer or phone, but he got her phone number, her name, her nickname, her age, etc. He calls most every day and neither the phone company nor the police will do anything. She has disconnected her answering machine and changed her phone number to an unlisted number, but he still keeps calling.

No more privacy anywhere...ugh!

Tech / Fanbox is a hoax, I got caught

Well, I got caught too. The fanbox I received was from a friend who was in England for a year. She said she was sending some photos, so when I got it, I didn't think twice and clicked on "launch". I didn't give any name, etc. but I suppose I will have a charge also.

Funny thing is I know better. It happened so fast. I learned my lesson.

Tech / Two great articles from TidBITS

I just read these articles on Tidbits - one helped me a great deal. I have been having a major problem getting the date set correctly in my Quicken accounts. In one of the articles it showed, step by step, how to correct it, and it worked.

Community / Very OT, but sad, we need to paint our decks

Here in California, we have not been able to purchase any oil based paints for years.

I agree with you that those latex paints are not as durable, and if you don't do the pre-treatment carefully, you will find the paint scraping off.

to everyone for your good wishes - I am grateful that I could celebrate my birthday, since I just turned 81.

This is a great board, and I am happy to be a part of it.

Note to RHP Consult - I had to turn the OSU game off yesterday. It was too painful for me to watch.

Tech / Keyboard with iMac

I didn't like mine either, so I went back to the one I had with the mac Tower. Even though it is not wireless, I like it much better and it fits my hand. The wireless one is too darn small for my hands. I am a poor typist anyway, so I need all the help I can get.
