However, they remain on the Mac desktop.
Don't forget, the Mac runs on a real computer with lots more power for user-made rules than iOS. For example, Mail on the Mac allows you to set how long junk and deleted emails remain in the 'trash'. You might want to adjust your settings in Mail; "Erase deleted messages: After one day/After one week/After one month". Same for junk messages.

I only have iOS 17.7.1 on my iPhone. I do have the above choices for my Comcast (Xfinity) mail account, but not for (iCloud) Mail.

Things are a breeze on the Mac and Apple Mail with SpamSieve. SS filters and sends to the trash automatically the vast majority of spam. And there are usually well over 100 from the overnight hours when I check mail in the morning. From there it's just a matter of selecting Mailbox/Erase Deleted Items/In All Accounts and everything in the Trash folder is gone in one operation. But that doesn't remove those same spam emails on the mobile devices.
On the mobile devices I use 2 fingers and it grabs everything as far down as I scroll. Then it's Edit/Select All/move to trash. Then on to Trash to delete from there. But that operation does indeed remove all of the offending emails from both the iPad and the iPhone.
Too bad SpamSieve doesn't have a mobile option.

The solution in the opening lines of the quote from Paddy appear to be a fix for the majority of the issue. If I manually select all of the offending emails and send them to the trash on either the iPad or the iPhone and then empty the trash, those emails are gone on both of the devices. However, they remain on the Mac desktop.
Not sure if this is because on the Mac, SpamSieve automatically sends offending messages to the trash to await my final disposition but there is no SpamSieve for the mobile devices.
At any rate it's a step in the right direction and I'll take it.

Thanks Paddy. I haven't had the opportunity to try anything yet, bet a little hectic around here lately.
Edit: I just went in and changed the accounts over to manual on the mobile devices. We'll let it run a day or so and see what happens.

Tech / Sync Mail across devices

After several years of using Airmail on my Mac I've gone back to Apple Mail. It seems to work much better with SpamSieve.
I also view mail on my iPhone and iPad. Like everyone I get tons of spam every day. SpamSieve does a heck of a job keeping it out of the Inbox but I still need to get into Trash or Junk to get rid of it.
I'd like to have the discarded emails disappear from all 3 devices when I discard them on one device. As it is now I have to go to Mac and delete them. Then to the phone, then the iPad.
If I forward the 4 email accounts that I have ( 2 Gmail and 1 Yahoo along with another private business email) to iCloud Mail, will deleting the offending messages from iCloud remove them from every device and save me doing it in triplicate?
OS 15.1 Sequoia on the Mac, iOS 18.0.1 on the phone and iPad.

Of course I've only used this on my Mac desktop. Not sure if there are versions for other devices. But the best I've found for Facebook is FB Purity. It's a free browser extension. I no longer see ads. And you can set it up to filter all kinds of stuff out.

Even with  7.1.2...battery life decrease

I really don't seem to notice any difference between before and after the update. No complaints here.

I held out until 17.1.1 came out. No problems with any apps and no noticeable shortening of battery life. So far, so good.

Just made the update to my old iPad yesterday. iPhone 13 still at 17.0.3. I'll just wait a while.

I think I'm on hold for a little while longer myself.

Has anyone done the update and suffered the battery life decrease I see mentioned so frequently? I went as far as 16.7.2 and stopped on my iPhone 13.
I see that 17 has gone through a couple of .0.x updates and is now at 17.1. But many reports are that the battery issue is not fixed.
Any experiences here?

With rare exceptions, most Mac apps seem happy with Sonoma Read this carefully. "Rare" does not mean that it won't bite you.

Thanks for the link. It would appear that I have none of the apps mentioned that are having difficulties. Always a plus.
I think I'll ride it out a bit for now with the current OS.

Just received the notice from software update for Sonoma. Has anyone installed it yet?
After my last update when a whole lot of stuff disappeared from my Mini and was sent to cloud I'm very hesitant to update.

Thanks for the insights Krissel. Some rainy day when I'm not out running the business I may delve deeper into this farce.

Do you still see that little cloud symbol next to the item that signifies it's in the Cloud?Probably not, but drag the column line far enough to the right just to be sure.

Also, try disconnecting your Mac from the internet and see if they will open. Then reconnect and try. Does a GetInfo show a size for them or just 0 kb/mb?

Go online to your icloud acct and see if they are there. If so, download those files and try again.

No iCloud symbol next to anything. Get Info shows it as being on the Mac HD and it does show this particular doc as 4kb.
I did go to iCloud Drive and selected the document who's Get Info is pictured here and that isn't opening on the Mac. Downloaded it to my desktop. It would then open.
So apparently a whole lot of items are located on iCloud Drive that I could probably open if I took the time to download them back to the Mac. An attempt at a wholesale Select All download yesterday didn't work. It appears that each document would have be downloaded individually.
Or if I try to download a folder from iCloud, that doesn't appear to be allowed. It has to be the individual files within that folder downloaded one at a time.

I have now found several missing documents in the Documents folder. However, none of them will open, no matter the application required to open them.
Is this because the things that I now see are just symbols (for lack of a better term) of something that is stored somewhere in iCloud? Of course now that I have it set so that the Mini is not syncing to iCloud I have no idea how to retrieve these documents.

Never trust a basically free cloud (nor any other) service for business data. Local and off-site, rotatable backups are much safer.

This kind of snuck in the back door on me with a Ventura update. It wasn't something I purposely selected.
