Thanks guys!!!

TS Bear, oh Rutger is doing fine. He is a bit upset with me for not posting enough here, and that I play with the camera too much. He is a bit too small to handle my camera, while it's easier for him to type on the keyboard of the computer (he jumps on each key with his feet). But I'll take him with me next time I shoot and we'll see if I can't help him hold the camera while he takes a picture. He wants to show you something he says! biggrin.gif

Yeah I know, I'm a stranger. And I do know I work too much. Phew!!!

But I did something just for my own pleasure wednesday last week - a bit wedding related even so, but here's a taste of what I did.

No brides or dresses were seriously harmed in the process of making these images.

2007 / Canon iP4300 trouble printing on CD/DVD's

Howdy, Petra! Great to see you here! biggrin.gif How are you??

Glad you found a work around and hope that it helps others in a similar pickle. Too bad this thread is archived - they never did find the answer.

Yes that was one of many threads I have read about this issue, and the Error is not a known one (but for us Mac Users with 10.4.9). It was that archived thread that gave me the idea to post this work around for printing through pdf and Preview.

Just wish Canon would update their softwares more often.

Yeah, I'm baaaaaaack....  toothgrin.gif

Just wanted to post in and let you all know I'm doing fine! Working like mad, as usual (that's a good thing I guess) and been too busy to play around on the forums. However today I felt it was time to post a bit, especially a workaround to a problem I had yesterday that was driving me nuts. All the info I could find when I searched for the error message was giving me nothing, oh, info in german or french, but that doesn't help me much. So I hope the search engines finds the post on this forum, and it'll save someone elses time. I can't even remember *where* I read the workaround as I was reading like 20 pages at the same time, but some guy in a thread - deep burried with techncial geek talk - had found the solution, but it wasn't easy to find through Google.

Anyway... everything is fine here. I still adore my kittens, they are sleeping behind my neck right now in a big pile. They are some real characters for sure! Hubby is doing fine, we did celebrate our 5th anniversary on June 21st and I was thinking about all of you guys, who surprised me with an upgrade of Photoshop on our wedding day 5 years ago. I will never forget that generosity! smile.gif

We were in Canada for our 5th anniversary and spent the night in Niagara Falls, very romantic! Click here to see a link of the nice view we had in the hotel!

While in Canada I was shooting hubby's cousin's wedding (phew!) and I also shot a wedding with an extremely talented photographer, Mark Ridout in Niagara-On-The-Lake. Very, very nice! Back at home now and I'm editing weddings up to my ears, and I have more weddings to shoot in august. I think once this summer is over, I've shot a total of 28 weddings since I started. Not many, but a lot! smile.gif It's great fun and a wonderful way to be outdoors and get out of the house.

Soon I will once again start a new translation of one of Scott Kelby's books (I did one this spring about digital photography and now it's an overhaul of Photoshop CS3 for digital photographers). So I'm keeping myself very busy. But if we're going to be able to remodel our kitchen this winter, I need the cash. biggrin.gif

Healthwise, it's the same same. I'm going to be part of a trial for a new medication this fall, but I've been disappointed so many times of so many "wonder drugs", that I am a bit sceptical to this new drug too. But I guess I'll find out sooner than later if it works or not. Would be nice to get my voice back though, so I can yell at hubby. biggrin.gif

So to sum it all up: I miss you guys and I'm doing fine! smile.gif

2007 / Canon iP4300 trouble printing on CD/DVD's
« on: July 31, 2007, 02:28:42 PM »
I've just spent over 3 hours searching the solution to a problem when using Canon iP4300 when printing disks, such as CD and DVD's. There's an undocumented error number, which not many know of, the dreaded Error 1851, which no one really understands. The message says that you need to close the inner tray door to print, but as you have the F tray in there, it has to be open, to print on disks.

So after many hours of seach, to find the solution to the problem with Canon iP4300 and Error 1851, I found a workaround for us who use Mac OS 10.4.9 and upwards. I will post the solution here, as I hope that maybe some search engines will find this post, and it'll help someone else with the same problem.

The problem has nothing to do with the printer, the printer is fine! The problem is the software that comes with the printer, the CD-LabelPrint software for Mac OS X. So this is what I found:

Make your design, or import an image for your layout in the sotware. Click the Print button and do all that says on the promts, like choose the right printer (iP3400), the CD-R Tray F format, and then in the print dialog, choose by Quality & Media Printable disk (recommended) and the default Disc tray (and if you print photo's on the disks, choose to print top quality photo's).

Then save as a PDF in the left bottom dialog of the print dialog. This is key to the workaround for us Mac Users!

Open the pdf-file in the Preview software that comes with Mac OS X, do the same settings as above, an then print it. It'll now work perfectly to print on your disks. No evil error messages anymore, and I did 4 disks in a row after this solution. So the problems looks like a compatible issue with Mac OS X version 10.4.9 and the latest version of CD-LabelPrint software, version 1.5.

Oh and PS, if you do want to make the printing area lager in the CD-LabelPrint, if your disk allows it - measure the diameter of the printable areas. Then choose Select Paper under the Edit menu, add a New design, give it some meaninful name, such as the sizes, and then change the outer size to lets say 118 mm and the inner size to 20 (or whatever numbers you came up with). This little trick will then be saved until the nex time you open the software, so you never have to do it again.

So there you have it folks! I hope the search engines find this posts so that fellow Mac users doesn't have to go crazy to find the solution to the problem with the dreaded inner tray door not being closed - when it actually should be open!

You guys are soo wonderful! Thank you soo much!  wub.gif

I've been leading a very hectic life for the last year or so and I hope it'll calm down after new years. I can't work this hard!

We'll be going to Canada in mid december, so then we'll ge a nice 3 week vacation with the in-laws, if a visit with the in-laws can be relaxing...  eek2.gif

anyhooooo... I'm so glad you guys haven't forgotten all about me and I sure haven't forgotten about you. I just have had to cut down on all BB's for a while to catch up with my life and not totally drain it.

But in a way it's positive, it means I'm not doing too bad and my health is not in any way wose than a year ago. On the contrary. Not fully well, but better.

LOVE to you all!  wub.gif

Drive 10 is from Micromat that also create TechTool Pro. Before TTP4 came out Drive 10 was the only diskfragment software running OS X that was out there.

Only problem I see with any of them is that it's slow to defragment an OS X drive.... first time you do it it can take a whole night. If you do it regulary, say once a month it takes about 2 hrs.

A very partial comment: Buy a Sony Ericsson instead. Works great with iSync and other Mac apps.

« on: February 03, 2004, 04:34:34 PM »
Mac OS X will create fragments on the harddrive, regardless of what people say. Simple reason is: HFS+

You will experiense LESS fragmentation with UFS, but there's still diskfragmentation on any system, regardless of what Apple says. More with HFS+ than with UFS, but still there.

Proof? Yes, I just have to mention the over 3,000 diskfragments I found with Drive 10 and the over 5,000 file fragments after just a few weeks after defragmenting after the install of Panther. The speed did improve after the defragment and also the fans ran less on my Powerbook since the reader head on the disk didn't have to jump all over the place.
