If you're talking about Ad Blocker for Arc, it doesn't require any, as far as I can tell.

I put a half dozen bookmarks in Arc to see how it works. Other than that, I've done nothing, not even lifted the hood, so to speak. I just like the way I can visit Facebook or Reddit and it's so clean, without ads.

It's interesting that Arc is getting so little recognition. I still use Safari most of the time but Arc has some very promising features that could make it more popular if only it got more exposure.

For Facebook, I use the Arc browser. No ads and the pages look the best of any browser I've used.

When I had my home office, years ago, I had a trusty Apple Laser Printer which was the best printer I ever owned. Eventually, I wanted to print color and I purchased the Epson Photo Printer. Every time I wanted to print something, I had to run it through its cleaning cycle in order to get the color correct. After going through a bunch of ink, I tossed it out and started using one of the places in town, like Kinko's to get color work done.

Boy that seems so long ago…

My wife and I share a 2019 MacBook Pro running macOS Monterey. Mac is good about keeping each of our logins separated from one another. We even share 1Password, a third party app.

I don't see any pitfalls sharing except for unlocking the MBPro with my Apple Watch. That is kind of hit and miss.

Back in 2000, I was very much into working daily on computers, both for work and for pleasure. At that time, I was trying my hardest to get into the mainstream of computer graphics and photo enhancement. I have fond memories of those days of discussing which software to use and how to use it.

All of that ended when I left the field of commercial printing and found myself trying to make it in the world. My computer usage dwindled to the point where all I do now is check what's happening in the world. I guess that's what changing life styles and age does to people.

I too appreciate all the camaraderie we have shared on TechSurvivors. I will continue to "check in" occasionally even if I don't participate as often. I hope all the survivors are doing well.  Thanks for all the help!

I use both Safari and Firefox browsers. Safari is set up to use Google by default and Firefox uses DuckDuckGo.

I like using DDG but Google seems indispensable for some searches.

Well, call me crazy if you like, but I did install Big Sur on my MacBook Pro (16 in., 2019).

I did it mainly because I've been working with Apple for a few months on trying to get my Apple Watch series 5 to unlock the MacBook. It has sporadically worked previously with OS 10.x.x

Two different senior advisors have tried to resolve the issue to no avail. Both advisors gathered data while I took various steps in an attempt to get the watch to unlock the computer so Apple engineers could have something to work with.

The update to OS 11.0.1 was supposed to fix the problem but it actually made it worse. The watch hasn't unlocked the computer even once since Big Sur was installed.

The advisor I'm working with currently said they know some people still have issues and to keep an eye out for more updates.

This whole thing hasn't been the most pleasant thing to go through but Apple did compensate me for all the time I have put in trying to solve the problem. They sent me a HomePod!

I have two ASUS RT-AC68U routers synced up as a mesh. I wanted to extend my WiFi to my detached garage where my Bolt EV is charged using a ChargePoint station.

The mesh system works well and I like that ASUS keeps things up-to-date regularly.

Safari and Firefox seem to complement each other IMHO.

I enjoy that Firefox has extensions that Safari doesn't offer and I use it most of the time. Now that Safari is supposed to get a major upgrade in the next OS update, I'm thinking of using it more to find out if I like it more or less.

I would be sorry to see Firefox go the way of Netscape but that's the way things go.

Sorry for the delayed reply, Paddy. I haven't been back to see replies since I sold the MB Pro. 

I replaced the hard drive with a solid state maybe two years ago and just recently replaced the battery. I'm hoping it will be a good basic computer for whoever has it now. I sold it for $50 on Offer UP.

There is good news! My son has a copy or Snow Leopard!

When I started up with the installer disk, it initially saw the hard drive with an issue and wouldn't install. I had to use Disk Utility to re-format the drive and then the installer had no problem.

So, all is well.

Thanks Jim,

I'll keep looking for a DVD. The files on the computer seem to have been locked somehow. I started up with my DiskWarrior on a flash drive. The Disk Utilities on there could not change or delete the installer files.

At least I know I can start up with another source such as DiskWarrior. So a DVD installer should do well.
