Hi Cheetah - and welcome to the forum. The cartoon bulb just lit up over my head.... My iMac is on Mountain Lion but it's happily running QT 10 alongside 7 Pro, which was imported from my old G5's backup disk. Hopefully, you have an archived copy of QT7 somewhere - if so just drag QT7 from it into your main applications folder and you should be able to launch it in the usual way. You may have to go into Registration and type in your key to activate the Pro facilities.Sorry not to to have thought of it sooner, but I've not been on the iMac for a few days  :rolleyes:For the record, many people on here are still using an older OS because it does what they need. Our MacBook Pro is still on Snow Leopard since it gives us freedom to use older applications that won't run on ML.
Thanks for the help - much appreciated. As you will see from my reply to another helper below, for some reason it hasn't worked, so I have decided to go with iMovie after all. It can't be that difficult to follow!

Welcome to Techsurvivors, Cheetah. I moved this thread to the Tech forum where it will get more views from the techy folks here. Sadly, I don't have a solution to you QT problem as I don't do anything with it other than play videos. wink.gifI am a wee bit jealous about your camera and all those lenses, as well as that photographic weekend. Hope you'll point us to some of your photos.Again, welcome to TS. smile.gif

Thanks for the advice. I did redownload QT7 and found that my registration for the Pro version was still there, but sadly there must be some corruption somewhere, because when I tried to load my images I got as far as selecting the frame speed, then everything went black with the accursed rainbow wheel turning and turning. I left it to brew coffee, but when I came back it was still struggling, so I gave up on it. A second attempt later to load a smaller number of images produced the same result.
So I have made up my mind to really study the iMovie tutorials and use that. It certainly makes it easier to add the music track. I will start with the same Time Lapse assembler.app  and then go from there.

Thanks for your help

Tech / Problem with Quicktime

I have been involved for a while with creating Time Lapse sequences. The old Quicktime Pro (Version 7) served me well, but the upgrade to QT 10.1 - necessitated by upgrading my OS to Lion (10.7.5) - does not. So I am now using Time Lapse Assembler.app which is simple to use, allows choices of CODEC and of frame speed on playback etc. My problem arose when I tried to add music to the resulting Quicktime Movie. The Apple info sheet tells users to drag down from File (when in QT) to "Import" and then select the desired music track. Sadly however when I tried this there is no "Import" link under File. So where to from here? Any ideas anyone? I was hoping to avoid the complexities of iMovie, having struggled with it in the past!

For the record: my iMac is about 5 years old, the OS has been regularly updated animal by animal to Lion, but I haven't yet dared to move to Mountain Lion, as I don't use the Cloud much, don't have other Apple products (can't afford them!) and I'm worried about future incompatibilities, perhaps irrationally! I use Photoshop CS5 all the time for processing the raw shots from my newest camera a SONY A65 ( all sorts of lenses) which I love! Just returned from a photographic weekend with like-minded shutterbugs to  a high country lake near the 8000 ft peaks of the Southern Alps. We were there well before dawn which made it magical! Cheers!
