Tech / Re: Mail problem in 10.13.6 High Sierra
« on: November 23, 2019, 02:34:40 PM »
Hello all.
I finally got my Mail app fixed. It finally took a couple of calls to and from Apple (19800-275-2273). I had deleted my user accounts as Paddy suggested but afterwards I couldn't create them again. Apple and I tried everything and on the second day one of their people suggested reinstalling High Sierra. they also had me run the free version of Malwarebytes. Anyways, with their help I was able to get Mail up and running finally. Thank you Paddy. Now back to the 556 emails to look at and sort. I'm sorry it took so long but my doctors are trying to figure out if I have heart trouble or not. Shortness of breath is uncomfortable. Thanks again to you all. Have a great Thanksgiving!

Thank you very much Paddy. I'm sorry I haven't replied sooner but I haven't been feeling well. I still feel sick so I'm going to read your post and try your solutions as soon as possible. I just want to thank you for your posting. I'll post as soon as I can.  :)

Tech / Mail problem in 10.13.6 High Sierra
« on: October 04, 2019, 01:18:46 AM »
I'm still with Charter/Spectrum as my provider. My Mail is all screwed up. I recently upgraded to !0.13.6 and neither my wife nor I can get or recieve our email in the  MAIL app. I can go to charter's page and get it but it's not being transferred to our Mail programs. Colette got a message tonight that reads, "The connection to the server "imap.charter.net" on port 143 timed out". Charter/Spectrum is acting like a bunch of Apes as usual, my communications with them have not been pleasant. The last person told me he didn't have time to figure it out and to call Apple before he hung up on me. Anyways if you have any clues as to how I can right the ship, please let me know. I'll really appreciate any advice.

Thanks gunug, I don't remember it sounding off like that before. It was like a horn or something. It woke me up though.

Tech / I applied a security upgrade today on my iMac and got a noise
« on: June 12, 2018, 05:31:42 PM »
I'm running 10.11.6 and applied a Security update today. After the iMac shut down and was restarting a loud noise, like a beep, that lasted a couple of seconds
came out of the speakers. Then it took a while to boot up, which it finally did. Anyone know what that extemporaneous sound is?

BTW, I like the new boards.

Tech / Firefox 52 to ban all plug-ins but Flash Player.
« on: March 15, 2017, 02:14:40 PM »
FF 52 is working fine for me and so is 1Password.

In Add-ons, FF52 keeps the Extensions but eliminates most of the Plug-ins.

I also have the plug-ins Paddy mentioned.

Paddy,  tongue.gif ohmy.gif  to you too smarty pants.  wink.gif

I couldn't even sign into the cloud on my new iPad last night. Thinking.gif

To switch over to the one step code, I need another email address and I don't want to get another e-mail address from Charter or Yahoo. Have any suggestions?

It was too much of a hassle to change to a one step code so I'm sticking with the 2-step code.

Thanks all.

Paddy, I found my 6 number code.

I also found this in my drafts folder in Mail: please pay attention to the last paragraph.

And my 1Password says I have the 2 step also.

I would like to go back to just one step code, my email address.

Do you think I should go to the link to deactivate the 2 step, given the fact that

the 6 number code is from November, 2011?

First of all thanks to all. I did delete it.

kimmer,

When I go to (https://appleid.apple.com), and log-in with my email address and password and the screen changes to the 6 box code, what do I do? Do I make up my own 6 letter/number code? Because I was never assigned one by Apple.

Does this e-mail from Apple look legitimate?

I live in WI.

It looked like phishing to me but I thought I'd ask here.

Paddy,

Will try to do so soon..

I did and I don't think it's worth it. It does a lot but you can't save as a .jpg. It has it's own format something like .photo or something like that.

It's for people that use the Photo App. as far as I can discern.

Let me know if you do try it and you can save a file in the JPEG or a PSD format.

I couldn't. And certainly no hurry, I know you have a lot going on. wink.gif

Tech / Photos App

Never mind Jim,

I found Image Capture in Applications. I thought they did away with it.

How do you set it up so when you connect the camera to the Mac it opens in Image Capture and not Photos app.?

This is great.

I still use Image Capture to get images off my camera.

Jim,

That's exactly what I used to do.

How do you use Image Capture in El Capitan???

Thanks
