Tech / Re: Trashing KEYNOTE?

Thanks to both of you. I'll guess I'll keep the older apps. Just in case.
I did try to read XAir's Tidbit link, but had to stop. Far too much info for me to understand a simple request.
Do I really need to take an electrical course to learn how to turn a light switch on?  :D

Strange! Both your links give me the same message... "Can't find server"
Using MacBook Air 2024.
OS15.7.4 and Safari 18.6.
Yet I can go to tidbits.com without an issue.

I trust advice here more than finding stuff on Google which is why I post a question here first. Thanks for your reply as always. I did try your link but "Safari can't find the Server".

I just downloaded Keynote 15.2. The old one - 14.5- is still in my Apps folder. Can I or should I just trash it?

I enter my title and text and add a png image. When I click on POST, nothing happens!
I am logged in and not as a guest. What to do? Yet, this one works!

Tech / Re: iMac OS message on the Finder

Thanks Krissel. Appreciate that. Sounds like it's not a serious matter. I just need to get a new iMac. Been hesitating as the new OS will not allow use of certain older Adobe design apps. I learning a work around with new Affinity apps first before I change.

Tech / iMac OS message on the Finder
« on: January 19, 2026, 05:43:05 PM »
Every few days a message pops up on my old iMac OS10.14.7 (don't ask! lol)
It says "Update Apple ID Settings. Some account services will not be available until you sign in again. VIEW"

When I go to VIEW an iCloud window shows up with a button to "Continue", twice. Then I have to "enter your password to set up iCloud". After that, I have to enter my Mac Password to continue. I have no idea what this does or why. Ideas?

I found the Mac DVD Player app, but it will not find the movie on my Sanyo DVD Player. I'm using a good HDMI cable and connections are tight. The Player works for my TV. All the Help support forums I have found base their info that the DVD is on the laptop which in my case it is not. It's on a separate device, yet it is not visible on the sidebar.  Should it not be visible there? My laptop and Sanyo Player don't seem to be connecting. Not sure if this is a hardware or software issue. Any ideas how to fix?

Tech / How to view DVD movie on MacBook Air?
« on: October 31, 2025, 11:33:12 PM »
I would like to show a full length ski movie at our Club's opening event in November. I wanted to use an Epson LCD projector for a small audience, but it's not working.
I'm using a Sanyo DVD Player that allows me to play that same movie on my TV screen. Yet, when I plug it to my 2025 MB Air using the same HDMI cable and a Mac adaptor, I can't find the Player anywhere. I thought it might not be able to find a restricted movie, so I downloaded a "Video Bytee BD-DVD Ripper", but that cannot find my Player either. What's the secret to find the Player and show this movie? Is there a setting somewhere that I need to adjust, etc?

Tech / Too many photo libraries?
« on: October 20, 2025, 06:57:50 PM »
I upgraded the OS from 12.6.2 on my wife's Mac mini to 26.0.1. First time in years. Her hard drive was getting very full, so I "consulted" with her to delete excess stuff. I did find several photo libraries. See image. Some were "iPhoto" libraries from her previous Mac?
Is there any way to merge these libraries and delete any duplicate images? What's the best procedure to do this? I'm hoping to gain some space.

I’ll take 10 quick photos while traveling & immediately delete 1/3 of the worse or dupes. And say I will edit ruthlessly later. Yet, that doesn’t seem to happen! Pros & cons of tech!

Thanks Krissel. I did sell my previous 2 iPhones privately. One dad wanted a cheap one for his teenage daughter. He paid me 50% of the original price and was happy. So was I, as my ISP only offered me 25% of the original price. I will definitely look for the 2nd latest model (16). I use my iPhone more and more for business. It now holds 24,000 photos which is amazing in itself. The iPhone has taken over from my SLR camera as quality of images are very good.

Are iPhone questions allowed here? If so, I will remove.
Both my wife and I have iPhone 12s with 124 gb. We had a 2 year contract with our ISP. Time to get newer ones. What's the best way to get a new one?
Do we sell ours privately and buy new?
Do we exchange for a credit to buy new?
We do not need the latest model 17. Is it better/cheaper to exchange for a 16?
How do you do your iPhone upgrades?
