2003 / I'm thinking about buying a Digital Camera....
« on: November 03, 2003, 11:47:21 AM »
I have to agree with the statement about "Playing with the cameras". Find a few models with features you like, then go to a store like Best Buy... Circut City, wherever that has a good selection and try taking photos with them. When you've made up your mind, then you can do the search for the best price.

I bought my digital online for about $100 less than in the stores. But I did go and try it out first.

Best of both worlds!

2003 / OT "Adventures in Radiation Treatment"
« on: July 11, 2003, 11:03:42 AM »
Welcome Back and Congratulations!

I too have gone through the whole surgery, chemo and radiation. I was extremely lucky that my side effects were minimal. It's been a year (in April) since my surgery and it will be a year in August for the end of my radiation treatments. As all have been saying, take it one day at a time. Relax and let things flow. You will get back into the swing of things quicker if you let yourself heal. My friend also had cancer. She and I both also live in Rhode Island. We go to the Cancer Support Group at Kent County the last Monday of the month. If you are in the area, stop by some time if you like. It's from 7-8pm. Glad to hear of another Rhode Islander doing well.

Take care

2003 / Would you buy a G4 off eBay?
« on: July 09, 2003, 11:59:02 AM »
Actually I emailed this seller about this item. It's not $888. I thought it was waaaaay too cheap also. I told him that his ad was misleading. If you wanted the G4 with the two monitors it was 3500. If you wanted the G4 with only the 23", he told me 2500. I think the ad was done that way so that he could weed out the true buyers. He mentioned in his email that they had problems with buyers not paying.

Yes, he had two negative, but it was for him buying something, NOT selling. Plus the fact that his feedback is over 590 positives, personally makes me wonder about those sellers, not so much him as a buyer.

I bought my G3 laptop from eBay, great deal. I actually made wonderful friends out of the deal. (no extra charge). If you feel good about a deal.. do it. If you don't.... then don't.

I've purchased over 100 items from ebay including my laptop and car. I've only had two deals that were not great.
One was a duplicate, duplicate of a duplicate videotape. But since I didn't ask if it was an original, I accept partial blame.  blush-anim-cl.gif

The other was a piece of software where they sent the wrong thing and when I tried to straighten the problem out the person had changed their email. I wasn't going to chase them all over the planet for $15.  The worst part was that it took so long, I missed my opportunity to post negative feedback.  wallbash.gif
That would have been my first and only post of negative feedback. I posted neutral on the video.

If you have any questions about buying.. feel free to contact me.

I just jumped over to eBay, at the moment (doing a quick search from the main page, I'm sure there are more) there are 2 full version of both 5 and 7. 5 is going for $104 and has a day left, there is a 7 that is $199 at the moment and another that has a buy it now of 259, a reserve is on the second so I don't know what the low price is. There are no bidders on the second one. It ends in two days. Hope this helps. biggrin.gif

If you really want to get Photoshop but don't want to pay the big bucks, you can always try eBay. I got my version a while ago for an excellent price. To get the best deal, get an older unregistered version. Then, once you purchase it and register, you can get all the updates for the "Upgrade" price instead of full cost. It's an idea or I've also heard that the "smaller" version of photoshop, Elements is very good. clap.gif

First of all, let me say that your work is beautiful. clap.gif I love playing in Photoshop even though I use it at work all day. I had to be a touch anal to find out if "Painterly" was indeed a word.

2003 / Junk Email :(
« on: May 12, 2003, 01:41:39 PM »
I have to agree with other posters. I have been using (Apple's) Mail since I upgraded. By utilizing the learn feature, after a couple of weeks of it learning, it does an excellent job of weeding out the trash. When it seems that most if not all of your junk is being rerouted, turn off the learning part and it will just move them to a file. Then you can occasionally check to make sure it didn't grab anything it shouldn't have, and delete the whole bunch. I love it, between that and Safari's pop-up blocker, life is pretty good! clap.gif

I tried to find anything to do with this... though I have a strong suspicion that it's just spam. They probably are either trying to validate your email, so they can send more junk or selling you pirated software. Perhaps even both! There is an internet service provider called Wise Net, so perhaps that part is valid, but the rest of the email sounds fishy. dry.gif  Plus it's probably a PC version.  biggrin.gif

2003 / Partitions
« on: May 12, 2003, 01:11:58 PM »
If I'm not mistaken, in the directions for install, it states that you cannot install OSX in a drive larger than 8 gigs. You could just break it (your HD) into the two sections, 8 for the OS then the balance for OS 9 and your apps. and documents. I have a powerbook which is 12 gigs and I didn't want to partition since I HATE partioning  wallbash.gif , but that's what it said to do.. so I did. If anyone knows how to install without using partioning.. I'd love to know about it. Good Luck with your system!
