That stupid, annoying Mac \'helper\' in Word

Is there any way to permanently turn off, disable, delete, or otherwise nuke that absurd and pesky little thing?

I've looked through the Preferences and have not found any way to do this.

Word / Orifice 2001, Mac OS 9.1

You mean you don't like the cute little guy?       In office X he/it looks like an SE with legs...not the idiot paperclip of earlier versions (or is the paperclip just on the PC version? I can't remember...).

Anyway - go to the Help menu and deselect "Use the Office Assistant". I looked "Office Assistant" up in the Help menu, and found out that the little beast also comes in various flavors - with options! Er...ok.

Sometimes I can't help but find the thing amusing, I must admit. Particularly the little indignant moves...but with a 22" monitor, it's really easy to just ignore him/it.

I kinda like the image when you print a doc.....on my small iMac screen it looks like he could be shredding it. (often not a bad idea)

I figured there had to be a way to turn that little guy OFF and that somebunny here would know the 'secret password.'

Now I can enjoy using Word again!
