AppleTalk working only one-way????
« on: February 09, 2003, 06:26:00 PM »
A curious problem has arisen on my home network:

I can see the den G3 (OS 8.6) in the Chooser  my office G3 (OS 9.1) but I cannot see my office G3 in the Chooser of the den G3!

I have unplugged and reinserted the connector (the den G3 has no trouble getting onto the net, which connects over the same ethernet cable - FWIW, I am posting this from the den Mac), zapped the PRAM, and rebooted  until I am blue in the face.

Any ideas about why ATalk should suddenly become a one-way street?  It's been working flawlessly for several years, and I have made no changes to either computer that could conceivably affect the ATalk interaction.

TIA,

While I was composing my post, I got ta thinkin' 'bout other things I might try, such as trashing various prefs, which I then did (after reboot, no change), but I had seen the FileSharing prefs and thought 'what if somehow FileSharing has gotten disabled on the office Mac?' and when I went to check, that was exactly what had happened!

Enabled FileSharing, and all is well on the BearFamily Network once again!
