Well, really my Father-in-law wants one. His big question is - can he use it as a TV monitor also?

Well - can he??

Thanks

Bill

I would like one too, but I'm afraid it wouldn't fit in the rolltop's monitor cubby hole. My 17" CRT fits with room to spare, but I'm not even sure a 21" iMac would fit.

I use my monitor to tune it TV signals. I just have a video player program to capture the signal from a VCR that is hooked up to my Mac. I don't know it that all works with newer equipment though.
Ya gotta applaud those bunnies for sacrificing their hearing just so some guy in Cupertino can have better TV reception.

I had a 23" Cinema Display [briefly, before it was destroyed in a fire] and now I use a Samsung 213T 21.3" LCD [which cost TONS less than the CD].

W/ the caveat that I never compared the two side-by-side, to my eye the Samsung looks as good as the Apple, I don't miss the 1.7", and the $$ saved makes a BIG diff, IMO.

Re: watching TV on it, it's gonna require a specialized video card which will run into some $$.
You cannot simply connect it to a TV...

Parenthetically, in the last year I have gotten into finding certain TV shows available for d/l on the web, but even w/ broadband, it often takes forEVER for stuff to complete.  It requires great perseverance and patience.

Oh yeah, kBear is right. I also had to add a video card to my G3, which came with the Video Player program.

IMO and many others, Apple LCDs are the best. smile.gif

You can save some money with others.

The Dells are pretty good.

My Brother bought this Dell 24" LCD.

These deals come and go.

There's plenty of Hardware solutions for TV on a mac. smile.gif

I have the 23" Apple CD and absolutely LOVE it!

My dad has that 24" Dell monitor (he got it so that he has the biggest monitor out of the family.  Thinking.gif  wacko.gif  )

We watched an episode of My Name is Earl on his monitor and it was TOO dark. I didn't like it. I didn't fool around with the settings so I don't know if that could have been fixed.

Thanks everyone - Now I can go over to the In-laws for Easter dinner and be able to answer his questions.  Dinner there is always fun and with my wife, son and I on one side of the table (known as the Mac side) and my brother inlaw and his family on the other (the PC side) we always duke it out over computers.

Thanks again,

Bill
