. . . and if you're really lucky you may find one with a plain, brown, corduroy "bag", such as the one I began to use more than 30 years ago for note taking in 3 hour interviews, especially when I have been assigned an office for my work at a client  with no really convenient table, just chairs!  

It's been x-rayed so many times in airports over the ensuing years, someday I expect to see the "beads" begin to glow in the middle of the night.

Oh yes. And, if you are able to sneak it on board a plane as an uncounted extra "personal item" it works really well as a substitute for those ridiculous (and often, these days) misaligned. misnamed "tray tables".

I think it was Dick (RHPConsult) who recommended a laptop stand, which I bought for under $30.  You can use it on your lap or on the tabletop to tilt toward you for neck ease.  It works pretty well, and the cooling fan rarely goes on.

I can't find the one I bought -- Targus, I think--  but there are a lot of products like it, and probably cheaper now.

Kelly - I looked with interest on the "Sabrent Notebook Cooler" wondering how many can's of beer pop it would store.  Boy was I disappointed!

I usually put my laptop on nice tv tray in the livingroom.  That way I can look up references to who is in the movie I was watching!
