I have no idea what 'distortion' field you are talking about, unless it's in some of the MW offices! "Apple pushing Intel"! Gimme a break! How would a 2 to 4% market share company influence the main supplier of chips for several companies selling to 3 to 5 times that share ( I may be exaggerating here, but that's my point... ). dntknw.gif But I wouldn't be surprised at what the Leader may have told/convinced the Intel people, he has a pretty unbelievable record, doesn't he?! clap.gif

I'm aware of Steve's amazing 'skill's' with 'nature', I just think the distortion was caused by lack of editorial skill and research...I suppose Steve could be the root cause of that. This RDF effect nay be what caused a local State Senator to make the statement that the FBI informant that he took several thousand dollars from was a friend and the guy "knew he didn't have to pay me to do what I do." The statement that the Senator would "kill" a bill was just a passing comment. he also said he only took the money because of pressing financial problems. And all this was while on the stand being questioned by the defense! And he was the only defense witness called! doh.gif I think he could have saved some 'defense' expenses! Of course, we the tax payers will end up footing his bills, anyway...

All this to say that Reality seems to be Distorted in a good many places, not sure I would credit Steve with causing all of them. Oh yeah, some are reporting that Apple may even have a 5.5% market share by the end of the year! That sounds like real muscle to me! Still, it's the first time I can remembering anyone ( outside of Apple ) forecasting any market share increase in a very long time. Seems to me they were saying they had 4% when they started opening the Stores a few years ago...

Anyone that come up with something more popular than beer has a lot going for him, RDF or whatever.  More popular than beer with college undergraduates?  jawdrop.gif

First, my original response was an attempt at levity. Mainly because I found the whole concept of Apple "pushing" any chip maker ( especially the world's largest ) somewhat amusing. I'm sure Intel appreciates the Apple cachet, but I doubt that they are even worried about keeping the as a customer ( for now, anyway ). Where else can Apple go for what they say they need/want?
Second, not sure what you mean by Apple is larger than Dell. Brain power? No doubt. Research? Does that even exist at Dell? Advertising budget? Maybe, recently. Company stock valuation? Certainly.

Market share? Hard to believe. I know I've seen other brands at various retailers/offices/etc., but I'd be guessing what they might have been. Certainly don't remember seeing any Gateway's, but there must be some HP and IBM's out there.

"Concern"? About what? Thinking.gif I couldn't care less about what Dell might do. dntknw.gif
