anti-virus software
« on: June 06, 2006, 06:39:13 PM »
The current MacWorld states that OS X, though far less susceptible than the Window os, may be open to a few viruses and could become susceptible to more of them.  Has anyone installed anti-virus software recently?  If so, which one?

That's been the saying for the last 5 years. Still no major virus outbreak in sight. But if you still want to be careful, check out this: http://www.markallan.co.uk/clamXav/

As yet it's not a problem Margie. smile.gif

Some day maybe.

IMO. It's only worthwhile in order to protect PCs from PCs. smile.gif

I really just wondered whether any of our TS ers had begun to worry about virus infestation.  I never open attachments unless I know exactly what it is and where it came from.  We really have much less to worry about than Windows users do.

Don't worry, when there is a virus that actually is a threat to Mac users you'll hear about it in spades.

Much less to worry about doesn't do it justice. smile.gif

As other have stated, there's nothing to worry about at this time [might change in the future, and if it does, you'll surely hear about it here].

There has been a LOT of self-serving fear-mongering media coverage of the possibility of Mac viruses, but there have not been any actual viruses, yet.
