iSighting and processor speed - the "real" limits

Does anyone know if iSighting can be effected by a >500 mHz Mac. I believe I read about that "threshold" when the iSights first appeared. BUT, is there practical experience out there in TeeEssLand to the contrary?
I've recently given my son our "retired" 466 Digital Audio G4 DT. His daughter is leaving soon for study in Cordoba, Spain and he's contemplating a camera purchase. If it doesn't work I'm sure he'll spring for a new Mac.

Apple's
iSight webpage
states as requirements:
QUOTE
Requires iChat AV Software (not included), Mac OS X v.10.2.5 or later, 600MHz G3 processor or higher, Broadband Internet connection.
So OS X Jaguar (minimum) and broadband seem to be the only two unknowns in this equation.
And your son would have to get an electrical adapter, I would think.

I'm hoping to see if the 600 mHz is absolutely "fixed" or if someone has actually tried something else and it worked.
We're OK w/Jaguar, iChat, and broadband. The speed is the (possible) problem, since as we all know,

BTW, that's iChat
AV
. Not the original plain-jane iChat...
And how does the camera ( iSight ) connect to the machine? Firewire?

Too hot, again, to be precise about application names!
Firewire is the connection, but the box does have an aded FW card . . . I think.
I haven't fired it up since last December when Santa brought someone in this household a new G5.
Too much to do and too little time, especially with limited mobility in my right hand. (But, I'll spare this assemblage an organ recital)
