CrossOver Mac beta released
« on: August 31, 2006, 07:56:55 PM »

Owners of Intel-based Mac will have one more way to run Windows applications, and best of all, you don't need a copy of Windows.

CodeWeavers Inc. has released a beta version of CrossOver Mac, allowing users to run Windows applications on Intel-based Macs. The difference between CrossOver Mac and Parallels Desktop is CrossOver is a WINE environment, not a virtualisation. It also means you don't need a copy of Windows to run Windows applications.

It is still in beta and TUAW reports it freezes up a few times.

CrossOver Mac will be priced at US$59.95 a copy, users can take a discount of $39.95 pre-order price.
Free 60-day beta version trial of CrossOver Mac is available for testing.
For more detail, please visit CrossOver Mac (CodeWeavers).

I thought almost all Windows users did that! Hardly ever hear a Mac user whining...wallbash.gif harhar.gif

"Would you like whine with that?"
THERE ARE TWO TYPES OF COUNTRIES
Those that use metric = #1 Measurement system
And the United States = The Banana system

So thats why my grandkids whine, their parents have PCs?!?

I just got my "Kibbles and Bytes" email from SmallDogElectronics, and in it was an article about this also.
The thing that caught my attention was that you did not have to purchase Windows or any Microsoft stuff to use it.  For just the very few things that I need it for, not having to buy Windows would be very nice.
Lets see how this works, might be better than Boot Camp and Parallels.
