A 100Gb 7200 rpm 2,5" drive for iBook
« on: September 06, 2006, 12:01:06 PM »
Hi everyone,

I found this Hitachi Travelstar for only 129 Euro, and that is much cheaper than any i found in the UK or US.
That is actually why i'm posting it here, since it's so cheap that i'm wondering if i'm wrong it would fit my iBook (link = specifications).
If so, i'm serious thinking to get this one, cause the speed of the harddrive really does matter to me.
Launching Civilizations 3 from my internal harddrive (60Gb 4200 rpm) takes longer than launching it from my external (40 Gb 7200 rpm) firewire drive.

I guess a second question can be if anyone is familiar with Hitachi drives?

Thanks smile.gif

Thats the drive I put in my Toshiba laptop. I also installed 2-1Gb 667Mhz ram cards,  all for about half the price Apple would have charged if I had purchased an Apple laptop.

I have found it to be excellent.  Much faster the the 5400 rpm that came originally. I put the 5400 in an external case for a backup drive.

Ah thanks smile.gif
Not planning on putting the 60Gb drive in an external one, cause it will be way to slow anyway.
I have an external 40 Gb now but i want to throw that out the external case and build in a second combo drive (that case can be used for both harddrive and cd/dvd drive).

Thanks, i think i'm going for this drive smile.gif

Ordered it smile.gif

It seems that i had the price at the dutch and they don't send to belgium, so had to sign up at their sister's site in Belgium and it was 10 euro more there.
But oh well, i guess mailing it from Holland to Belgium would be around that price anyway.

It will be in stock tomorrow, so i hope to get it before the end of next week.
