First, Google Earth has upgraded a lot of their sat images.  We can see our cars at the house in Maine in the mountains!
And even can see our friend's B+B in Costa Rica.
Give it a look, you will love it!

Secondly, if any of you-all love maps and historical maps, check this site out,

Ive downloaded some of the historical ones of Boston, some are HUGE files, and Photoshop won't deal.  But Graphic Converter will, if you grab the plugin that deals with .sid files.  Its on the GE site, Lempke.
Fun stuff!  GE is addictive.

Then I better not get started! I have 3 road atlases (atli?) scattered around the house. (same as the number of telephone books!) My older son inherited my fascination with maps. He was suggesting routes on trips (in town and otherwise) while still in grade school. He once helped the school bus driver get back on the correct route after getting lost. ...and that was in elementary school!

Yes indeed, love of Maps is inherited.  It is definatly genetic!
One of our kids worked at USGS between college and grad school.
Oh my god, the maps they had at work!  I would go over there and just get dizzy looking at them.

Actually, I was going to take some of the old ones that they discard and put them on our floor and walls, and get my husband to apply many coats of polyeruathane over them.
But I havent done it yet,,,,,,,I do have some of the maps however.
More fun stuff, how are we ever going to have time to do all the stuff that we want to?

It is really sporadic, as to how they upgrade.  One place is great and another is lacking. But they are adding really quickly.
Just keep looking, as they are cookin' with some amazing imagery.
And changing stuff, like the plane and its shadow over our little harbor, its been replaced, so if you get a nice image of your area, save it, as it might not be there tomorrow!

Forgot to say, that a neighbour, a teacher at our high school, went to a presentation at MIT to see the Innovater Awards, and one was given to a student who was working with the Google Earth software.  Thats all I know tonight, but plan to talk with her tomorrow.
This is just so much fun to see what they are viewing with this amazing Earth!
I love maps and sat imagery.
