I don't even know what they mean by the various 'parties'! Perhaps if the url for the image is different from the "From:" address?
In any case, I would want the prefs to stop
any "<img..." tag from operating, unless I give specific approval. I assume ( not
again! ) that blocking that tag is all the program is doing to block those downloads. Any html capable email program has a built-in mini-browser ( actually more like an interpreter ) that scans the html to know what to do with it just like a 'real' browser. But that mini-browser can be set to disregard anything the developers want it to and that's what I thought Mail and other pref-enabled programs did. But I have no bit-level knowledge on exactly what they do.
It is depressing if Apple is so 'attached' to html that they can't allow the user to disable some of it.
Still, I don't hold out much hope for much in the way of improvement in Eudora. It will require more than a few programmers sent over from Qualcomm, IMHO. If the Mozilla group doesn't see a real benefit in the arrangement, I don't see why they would do much with it. I have yet to actually use Thunderbird, but I
do get a little irritated at FFs inability to use Mac text input boxes ( the up/down arrow keys don't take one to either end of the text, just like Windows doesn't
). I assume that's the price we pay for 'cross-platform' compatibility?
