OT - bought two things NOT made in China....
« on: October 22, 2006, 07:36:40 AM »
First was some 3M sandpaper as we're doing a bit of remedial painting; it was made in (we need a 'fanfare' smiley...) Canada. Second item was a hat Mrs Highmac bought to wear while gardening. It was made in (another fanfare...) the UK. Then she got a fit of the giggles...

Me: What's the joke?

Mrs H: The tie-on label with the hat was... printed in China!  doh.gif

I replaced a fluorescent tube recently in the desk lamp I use over my computer desk.

The store display had quite a selection of types (sunlight, coolwhite, aquarium, blacklight, etc.), all of which were GE brand and met the size, shape, and wattage requrements. The packaging was all bilingual English/Spanish.

The sunlight bulb I picked was made in Hungary. Others types were made in China, Mexico, and a couple of other countries.

Now, class, can we all say "global economy?"
I'm not a complete idiot -- a few parts are missing!

As I was sorting through some old clothes with my Mom recently we realized there was an easy way to decide if something was out of date/style and a candidate for donation.

If the label said it was "Made in USA" it was probably at least 20 years old and out of style.

However it was probably better made so that confused the issue. rolleyes.gif
