How to create Slide Show for a PC
« on: October 25, 2006, 10:42:05 AM »
I have 100+ photos in an iPhoto album that I need to burn onto a CD for a slide show for a conference. They will use a PC laptop and run it continuously during their banquet.

First, I need to reverse the order of my photos in the album... switching first to last. How to do that easily?

What's the easiest way to burn these photos onto a CD that a PC laptop could project? Is there a way to have a PDF slide show?  I also use Keynote.
If I use something other than iPhoto, how do I get the 100 photos in that program? Do I drag the aliases or do I need to drag the originals?

Thanks for your help.

I am no great PC user, but if it were me, I would invest in FotoMagico (it is very good - go and see my work on http://www.channel4.com/fourdocs/film/film...l.jsp?id=18222# - that was done with FotoMagico), make your slide show (it happily used iPhoto or you can import), export it to iDVD, put it on a looped cycle that begins the minute the DVD is put in player, then burn it onto your DVD using iDVD.

http://www.fotomagico.com/

That is how I would do it. THere is probably a much easier way than that, though.

Good luck

Don't need to buy anything!
Create a slideshow in iPhoto
Make a playlist of music for it in iTunes
Export the slideshow to QuckTime
and burn the movie file using iDVD
This account isn't hacked...
I'm actually back from hiatus (and its about darn time too)!

I'm not sure a QuickTime movie can 'loop'. And I strong second the FotoMagico suggestion, it is what iPhoto could/should have been. The 'loop' function still may remain an issue.

Keynote can export to PowerPoint, I think. Just don't use too much in the way of fancy transitions, those are usually proprietary to PP and Keynote. Surely that can do the loop thing and most Windows users should have PP.

iPhoto should allow you to arrange the images, in an album, in any order you want, at least the later versions can. If you use Keynote, it can 'see' the images with its "Media" button and import them. You should also be able to drag and drop them ( from the album ) individually, into any Apple app. The Apple apps, will understand to use the original not the alias. BTW, stay out of the iPhoto folders in the Finder! Messin' with those is a sure way to create trouble for iPhoto!

Those that use metric = #1 Measurement system
And the United States = The Banana system

Thanks. Guess I've got some experimenting to do.
I think Keynote has a SAVE as PDF option that might do it.

Airbusdriver,
Which raises another question...
My iPhoto FOLDERS are adding up. There are some old ones I could delete to save space.
Is that a problem if I dumped the Album alias AND the original Folder?

What about if I wanted to delele SOME photos out of those Folders? I usually edit in the camera, then import to iPhoto. InvariablyI could edit the original photos again and dump another 25%.
Is there a right way to do this without screwing up iPhoto?

(maybe I should set this up as a separate post)

Back later! :-)

You can delete out of iPhoto folders, to slim down the folders and not losing the original in the Library, but if you delete pictures out of Library, they are gone.

So I find that if you have them backed up on, for example, an external HD, then you can go ahead and delete the ones you dont want to keep.
Will free up space.
Be careful, and there will be more info coming here, that is better explained than I can do.
I am not familiar with PowerPoint nor Keynote yet.
