PSE 3 - my prefs are screwy
« on: October 29, 2006, 11:10:05 AM »
Yesterday I somehow managed to change some prefs in PSE 3 and I don't know how I did this, and worse - I can't figure out where to reset them. Help! huh.gif
  1. Every new file is now in greyscale and I have to select RGB.
  2. If I have 2 or 3 files open, they now tile on the screen. Useful I suppose - but not for me and they didn't used to do that.
  3. New files used to open with no extra canvas space around them. A 150x150 graphic showed up that size. Now they all show up filling the screen and when I click the "green" button to adjust them, all I get is the tiled mess.
Other than these muck ups, I've not set any special settings -- so I'd even trash the pref file if I knew where it was. wink.gif

HELP! Please.

Kimmer, did you look in the Users->(you)->Library->Preferences file? There should be an Adobe Photoshop Element .plist file there and perhaps a preferences file, though I cannot find one for PSE2, which I own. Quit the program, delete the .plist file and restart PSE. If that doesn't work, then try restarting your Mac.

If there is a preferences file as well, try deleting that too. I did a search of my HD and can't find any PSE 2 preference file. huh.gif

Gosh, Paddy, why would I look there?  oops.gif  LOL!  I couldnd't find any prefs for PSE 2 either, so I kinda sorta stopped looking. *smacks self up side of head*

Looking in that most logical place that you pointed out ... hehehe, I found:
*a file called: Photoshop Elements 3.0 Paths
*a folder called: Photoshop Elements 3.0 Settings

inside that folder was: Photoshop Elements 3.0 Prefs.psp

I'm gonna move that and give it all a try in just a bit ... but first I have to go help Sneakers move boxes before he's breaks my dishes! eek2.gif

Okay, that worked. Thanks Paddy.

I would love to know what keyboard command I hit to screw this all up ... gonna have to ask Santa for more nimble fingers. wink.gif
