Stuffit Expander has disappeared
« on: October 28, 2006, 10:01:03 AM »
Having just posted all that rubbish about Stuffit, I've now got my brain into gear and realised that all I had to do was switch off and restart.  I'm now kicking myself for being such a nincompoop.  Sorry you were troubled!

It's my age  biggrin.gif

If you shutdown by interrupting the power to the Mac, you run the risk of also interrupting certain background activities in mid-cycle, and this might possibly cause critical data corruption, or render the Mac non-bootable.

It's Not something to do w/ any regularity.

Thanks kb.  You'll see from my previous post I've had lots of caveats and taken note.

Hey Peter.

I'm just back from the Sandwich Isles, so I may not be thinking with complete effectiveness . . . either!    Thinking.gif
BUT, here are two more (possibly helpful) suggestions for the future:
  1. As ABD gently pointed out to me a couple of weeks ago (to my astonishment) simply holding-down COMMAND + TAB brings up a "marching" selection of apps that can be readily dealt with arguably the fewest keystrokes.
  2. 2. Refrain from filling your tumbler 3/4th full of Old Avatar (35 years old) before attempting intricate Mac maintenance.    toothgrin.gif  rofl.gif  salute.gif
