Yet another X10.4.7 FAX question
« on: November 01, 2006, 10:13:13 AM »
Got yet another FAX question using built in FAX capabilities of X.4.7.

In Fax Preferences, you can click the "Receive faxes on this computer" on or off.

HOWEVER, when it is clicked on and the computer is up and running, it attempts to answer all phone rings, not just faxes. sad.gif This can get very annoying in a regular callers ear — that sharp whistle! nono.gif  rant.gif  wallbash.gif    NOT welcome.gif !!!!

I see nothing that sets up the answering as fax only.

Is this just a cheap shortcut on Apple's part.

Fixed in X.4.8?

If I remember right, on OS 8.6 using a Teleport fax modem and GV software, this was no problem.

Maybe II just have to bring up the fax prefs when I pick up the phone and get that whistle, and set it up to receive.

Thanks, Jack
