OT: Words that disappear!

Cistern-Been there done that.  Calling the waterman for a load, when rain wasn't enough.  And at my grandparents' home, "going down the hill" during daylight hours, and using "the bucket" during the night.
'56 Chevy-with an electric fuel pump!  Added equipment!  Needed for a poor student going up hills on "fumes".

Do not fear your enemies.  The worse they can do is kill you.  Do not fear friends.  At worst, they may betray you.
Fear those who do not care; they neither kill nor betray, but betrayal and murder exist because of their silent consent.

Pallets on the floor - great fun! We used to beg mom and pop to let us sleep in the living room on a pallet ... just because it was fun. biggrin.gif

"Unmentionables" - sadly everything is mentionable and "showable" to boot!  eek2.gif

Parallel park? Have you noticed the way they park when they pull into a parking slot?  blink.gif

My first car was a 195? Chevy Bel Air 2-door hardtop, complete with fins and all the chrome trim in the world. Sweet car.

I'm guessing the American use of the word does not apply to one of these...
Wouldn't you know those Brits would put the handle on the wrong side?! wallbash.gif Driving is on the left side is bad enough, I shudder to think what might happen when not finding the handle in the middle of a dark night! That particular one (first one Google images found for me) is a renovated 30s-style one. Most cisterns these days come either with a push-button on top, or with holes to have the handle either side (plus a blanking plug...!).

The house we're in came with its original 80s "pampas-grass" colour suite. We know the moment we rip it out and replace it with something up to date that colour will come right back into fashion. That's our excuse for still having it wink.gif

Don't the Japanese have a model that is automatic, and washes, dries your bum to boot? :ouch:
Ya gotta applaud those bunnies for sacrificing their hearing just so some guy in Cupertino can have better TV reception.

...a blanking plug...
Please watch your ( our? ) language! 'blanking' is often used as a substitute for a 'curse' word ( an 'explitive' for the younger crowd! ) over here.

I think it's 'boot to the bun', but let's not get too physical... Thinking.gif
