If you haven't taken the time to download the latest Adobe Reader you in for a surprise!

It's totally redesigned and it's lightning fast!

Note: This version is for OS 10.4.3 or higher

And, an Intel version (finally).

I installed both the PPC and Intel versions without problem. As Bruce noted, it's incredibly fast, nothing like the Adobe of yesteryear.

Many new features including digital signatures.

Apparently the Plugin for FireFox is still in development, but for Safari users, a marked improvement (IMNHO). clap.gif  cheer.gif

Yes, it's a lot faster.

Why don't they release a single "Universal" version, instead I need to download two version for two versions.

They should've provided a "standalone version" without "download manager". (Okay, I am kind of person who hates download manager.

Downloaded and installed just fine for me right now. Sort of felt like I was getting something from Macy's...wink.gif (same overwhelmingly RED everything!) But the new look and speed are nice.

And now I have to go and change all the "Get Adobe Reader" logos on all my web sites, since they changed that too...tongue.gif

How do you get the download manager to work? Every time I try it, it says it cannot write to my desktop because the file may be locked or I don't have adequate permissions, neither of which is true. Is this just an indication of a busy server at Adobe?

Sounds more like a choice in the browsers expected download location. I'd check that setting and make sure it's what you expect it to be. A busy server would just show an error message or take forever to to do anything. The server doesn't know anything about your disk permissions or locked files, nor does the browser, it just tries to put stuff where you tell it. The OS gives these warnings, if applicable, after the server and browser try to do their thing.

I'm just glad to not hear of any problems with the new reader, at least so far? smile.gif

Not a browser probelm or expected download location. Adobe insists on downloading to the desktop. I had no problems downloading and installing (rather the Adobe Download Manager) the Intel version to my MacBook. The download mananger dmg downloads without a problem. But it could not then download the Reader Install.dmg until the 5th try (deleting earlier versions each time before trying again).
