Hello folks,
I am thinking about buying and installing more RAM into my 17inch Intel Core Duo iMac. No, it isn't an Intel Core Duo 2. It came out a couple of months after I made my purchase. Oh well, thats how it goes.
Anyway, I looked up the RAM I will be needing at Crucial. It shows my computer has two slots that can hold a max of 1GB each totalling 2GB. To get the 2GB kit it will cost $251.09 U.S. I haven't priced anywhere else.
I am wanting to install the RAM myself. I have done so in other models but not the new iMac. Can someone link me to some instructions. Does it take some type of star tool to open up the bottom? If so, where do I get one?
I am currently running on 512 RAM and am not impressed. Previously I had owned an 800mhz G4 PowerMac running OS X Panther. It too had 512 RAM and in comparison this new iMac doesn't feel any faster. When opening windows the response time isn't any better.
