According to Australian sources, Grisoft, the Czech maker of AVG anti-virus and firewall software for Windows may be porting AVG anti-virus to the Mac. As far as Grisoft says, the port earlier this year to Linux/BSD made the Mac port a bit easier—maybe a bit more possible.
http://arstechnica.com/journals/apple.ars/2006/12/10/6238as some say it could be FUD but having anti-software for x in the works can't hurt.
http://www.zdnet.com.au/news/security/soa/...39272601,00.htmFor some time now I've been using Sophos, primarily of Virtual PC but it has cross platform applications.
http://www.sophos.com/products/es/endpoint/sav-mac.htmlI started off with ClamXAV
http://www.clamxav.com/I needed something to assure clients that I wouldn't be transferring problems to them, they were not sold on the idea that Macs didn't get viruses, malware and the like. It's been lying around doing very little for about two years now, but as Apple moves closer to MS some of that Icky is bound to rub off.
I have it installed in windows XP pro and OS Mac 10.39, I don't how it functions in Tiger. If Apple is going to use AVG then that may be a better option. Not because it's a better product, b ut because they may support it and they made a deal with them. It may be built-in some day, who knows?
