iTunes artwork - advice please

I've discovered that cover artwork for some of my CDs simply cannot be found on the web - not in the usual places, anyway - so I'd like to scan in my originals. However, I have been unable to find info about what size I need to make them to fit the artwork box (some of the ones off the web have been rather small, but at least they match the original album). I've tried iTunes help - it just tells how to install artwork and I already knew that .

I tried dragging off some of the ones I've got on iTunes and checking sizes in Graphic Converter, but it seems they are all different, even ones that appear to be the same size

Don't know what size they should be, but it may be that the iTunes software compresses the pic to a standard size no matter the original. The TS avatar settings code does a similar thing.

Try scanning one,  adding it and see what happens.

Yea, iTunes will automaticly resize the pictures for whatever you want. But if you really want to, the default is 300*300.

Just some information, but when I found I couldn't find a certain artwork on iTunes, I searched Amazon for the artwork and copied/pasted that one in iTunes.
But like you said, some of them are smaller than the others yes, not sure why.

in order to find Album Art on iTunes,
the album name must match the album name in the itunes database verbatim.

Also, have you tried Fetch Art?

It finds alot of album artwork that I notice iTunes doesn't.

One querk is that after searching and importing art into iTunes, to do another album you have to quite Fetch Art go to the next album, highlight all the songs and start up Fetch Art again.
