TRASH trashed

On occasion, I receive an alert during an interrupted emptying of Trash that declares, in effect, “Nope” because of a “localized rcsc”.

Now, I’ve learned from the internet that such an acronym may stand for the . . .

• Royal Civil Service Commission
• Research Council on Structural Connections
• Rotary Club of the South Cotswalds, or even the
• Royal Charleroi Sporting Club

but nothing apparently related to my Mac or its contents.

Any ideas?

Where do rcsc's come from; How do I overcome them, so to speak. Sometimes, Secure Empty Trash works. But why?

Where do rcsc's come from; How do I overcome them, so to speak. Sometimes, Secure Empty Trash works. But why?

Firstly, check your trash to make sure there is nothing that you have deleted by mistake and may want to keep

Then to force Trash to empty try

1) Open a Terminal window
2) Type sudo rm -Rf
3) Open Trash and select all the items in it
4) Drag them to the terminal
5) Press return/enter
6) Type your admin password when asked for it

I know it's the "Geek" answer, but it works for me

I should have emphasized that Secure Empty Trash wasn't working, which was part of the rationale for posting. (I do remember that earlier thread and its helpful suggestions.)

I don't "do" iMovies, yet.

You'll never catch me in the Terminal, no way.

So, what to do, where to go, as other feasible alternatives – if there are any?

The quickest solution I've ever had for 'sticky trash' is to Relaunch Finder ( from the "Force Quit" menu item ). I think the Finder is the application that actually takes care of the Trash ( through the OS ) and when it 'loses it way' it simply helps to quit it, just like most other apps. Being such an important program, the OS will simply restart it without affecting any other running app. Nice.
