The only thing they have that I'll eat is a Egg McMuffin so a redesign of the restaurant won't help them win me over!  One of those pictures actually looked a lot like a one they've got out on the Kansas Turnpike!

Moving away from using red in the color scheme may affect sales. That color (and orange) are known to influence appetite psychology.

Otherwise the new interior is more attractive though ultimately probably not going to be easy to keep clean and will encourage kids to hang out long past the time it will take to eat their food. That can lead to behavior problems if they aren't on top of things. May find families with the very young avoiding those places if it becomes a teenage hangout.

Fabric chairs?  Upholstered in light colors??  Where kids eat??  Segregating "those who eat alone"?  Ok, we have a new genration, GnG's.

Moveable tables?  As a previous food worker, that alone is a nightmare.  Those round tables are not efficient.  4 at a round table does not equate to 8 at two round tables when pushed together.  It becomes six at best and still taking up floor space of 8 or 10.

The "swish eyebrow" is in keeping;  the arch is still there.  Linger zone?  I don't know...seems to be what kris pointed out, longer stays by the same crowd, and not neccessarily the crowd one wants "hanging out", as most people, MISTAKENLY are put off, frightened, intimidated, by teenagers.  You know...the "others" may be too noisy, too avant-garde, too "new" for the stodgies.

I haven't eaten in a MacDonalds in 20 + years, but this is not going to bring me in.  So I'm not the market, but even with free wifi, that dog won't hunt.
Do not fear your enemies.  The worse they can do is kill you.  Do not fear friends.  At worst, they may betray you.
Fear those who do not care; they neither kill nor betray, but betrayal and murder exist because of their silent consent.

My in-laws were "shopping" for a banquet room to celebrate their 50th and settled on one even though they only have round tables. We're going to try arranging them in a circle and seating folks only around the outside perimeter.... (not til July)

Mickey D's is attempting regicide: It wants to destroy Burger King's economy and destroy the franchise in an upgrade race that the scary Whopper monarch with the Botox overdose can ill afford.

Burger King will follow Country Kitchen into irrelevance: Its second-rate, thorn-in-the-side empire will disintegrate into locally owned chicken shacks as it descends into the deep-fryer hell of bankruptcy. Special Sauce trumps Your Way every time.

Round tables and resilient transit-bus-seat fabric are merely the first shots across the bows. When the diced onions settle you'll know the big guns are targeting Wendy's when McD's switches to hexagonal  meat patties.

The end is near. "Burger King, tear down that drive-thru!"

Linger zone = Starbucks? What? Are they nuts? Who's smoking what in the corporate design room? wacko.gif

I'm not even sure we have a McD's in this area, but even if we do none of this decor would draw me in. Last time I ate at a McD's the food was still lukewarm soggy tasteless something or other.

Guess it will be interesting to watch what happens. wink.gif

Apparently they have one of those new designs right across the river. I'll go by some time and take a picture.

The original Mac Burger sold at a loss, 19¢ so McDonalds could sell Coke at a profit.
Pouring draft Pepsi including the cup cost them about 3¢, like draft beer cost 5¢, the profits are in the liquids the value is in the food. So go ahead waste your money.  cheer.gif  Me I'd try the new food offerings and let others support Mcdonald's farm.  coolio.gif

Funny that this comes up... I just started reading Fast Food Nation.   I'm working my way through a bookshelf of "to be read" books...

Fast Food Nation should be required reading for anyone even considering eating at a McDonalds, or any other fast food place for that matter...

But at least at Burger King or Wendy's they will let you "hold the Mayo". wink.gif bump.gif
