Jim, you're still missing my point. kimmer nailed it. Read her post.

krissel, sorry you misunderstood. No, you don't get the reference to Hormel. I was remembering that you participated in the thread where that was mentioned, if in fact it was not one that you started. I guess "cross-thread references" don't work so well. Please read the initial post again. I see nothing that I raised in it that says "it's confusing" "it's bad" or "it needs to be changed". I made no request of anyone to do anything about it. Does anyone here work for Hormel? I said "...ever notice?" Is there something wrong with that?

To explain:
Hormel claimed the use of the term "spam" was confusing. Obviously, it isn't. Get it now? This is the part that was in jest.

I stand firmly on my point that the buttons have different functions, even though the same "label". I am serious about that. That's a fact.

Sheesh! It was merely a factual observation. End of subject.

Where's my rock?

Any 'text pop up' should in in the "title=..." piece of the html link tag. Finding the html source code is by far the hardest part of modifying the display, of course. I don't know if the links are in the skins ( which I doubt ) or in the HTML lists in the Control Panels area ( where they should be, IMHO ). I would think the skins would/should be mainly limited to the colors/font styles/sizes ( the CSS effects ) used as every page should include the same buttons and labels. dntknw.gif

Jim, the title was not in the html of the footer or anywhere else I could find. These skins are like going through a maze to find where things are located. I ended up adding the title= into a macro that coincides with that particular button. Oddly enough the title= for the other two buttons is not in their macros and I haven't a clue where they are but they do show up on mouseover.

Whoever created the format for these skins must have originally worked for Microsoft.

And that will probably need to be done for every single skin. wallbash.gif It's not working in the skin I'm using right now ( naitaken ), at least since I came to TS about an hour ago. dntknw.gif

I agree about the 'conglomeration' of pieces, both html and CSS. It's probably what editing an iWeb site would be like! tongue.gif Not sure MS had anything to do with it, it's probably more due to the process of building a very complicated and growing 'system' with a changing group of 'builders'. Stuff gets added in sometimes rather circuitous ways and seldom gets documented properly, at least for those users who might want to make minor changes.

I told myself not to come back in here ... but I'm a glutton for something or other.

Yeah, the popup doesn't work in naitaken -- BUT naitaken doesn't use "Add Reply" in 3 places to mean slightly different things. It's buttons are labeled right nicely (Reply and Add Reply) and you can tell exactly what they mean. Not that I'm saying anything in this thread.  harhar.gif

krissel ... I feel for you. I had to tweak one of the skins I put on my board and it was royal adventure. I was finally able to track down the designer and ask them where the gem was that I needed to adjust. They told me and I laughed - cuz I'd never have looked *there*.  tongue.gif

I knew it: addicted to tweaking!
Is there a treatment center for that? wink.gif

Oh definitely it has to be done within each skin. Likewise for all the banners, logos, etc.
There is no change that can be done to one skin and have it affect any other. The only things that carry over are the options within the IPB software. All graphics effects are done on a skin by skin basis. Hence the aggravation and time involved with any alteration.
