New fast browser!
« on: April 09, 2007, 06:40:51 PM »
<Sunrise> has many features that will appeal to wed developers but it could be very useful to anyone who wants a fast browser! clap.gif
Quickly change window sizes to check fluidity of your page
Maximum screen real estate with a toolbar that can be made to disappear
    1 Mb app! ( Safari = 6, Camino = 40, FF = 50.3 )
    Fast!
It's only a 1.01 version, don't expect perfection, home page shows this may be from Japan. Thinking.gif But it looks like a great challenger for a great fast Mac browser ( just hope it doesn't get bloated as it improves ). smile.gif

OK, it may have a future but it's not ready for primetime.

Bookmarks don't work, no bar to see address of page links, no bookmark bar, etc.
View source is done via an external app which drove me nuts in Opera.

It's fairly fast, quicker than FF and Safari but not as fast as Camino. I tested it on my portal page at myway.com which tells you how many seconds the pages take to load. Average time for Sunrise was 2.27 and for Camino .77.

Had a few chuckles with the translation on the main page to English.  laugh.gif

Ya gotta applaud those bunnies for sacrificing their hearing just so some guy in Cupertino can have better TV reception.

It's designed to be used by developers, thus the access to an editor is great. Although I usually have the editor open anyway. dntknw.gif I find it amazing that so few people even know they can see the source so it saves some code by not making the browser do the displaying. Not sure what you mean by bookmarks not working, URLMP worked fine, even though it doesn't 'offically' know about Sunrise. smile.gif But that's no surprise, I guess many people still keep bookmarks in every browser they use. doh.gif

As far speed, you could be right, and like Camino ( Safari, Opera, et all ), there are no extensions/add-ons so stuff like javascript is all or nothing. All I know is that a tab opened so fast that I thought it had crashed! smile.gif

I tend to like programs that do what they are supposed to without a lot of features that are seldom used; keeps the code bloat down and usually helps them run faster with less memory.
