Mail Deliveries

This is a second annoyance that I'm having with my new iMac. Backround; I still have not imported files from my old Mac so my old Mac continues to be up and running next to my new iMac. Both are connected via ethernet and router. I receive email faster on the old machine and I sometimes do NOT receive email on the new Mac. For example I did not receive on this iMac Mail a Digest from another Dicussion group to which I belong, yet it was delivered as usual on the old Mac. I sent a test message to myself and received it fine and I received a TechSurvivor message on the iMac at 12:54; On the old Mac its 12:51. No big deal, but I've received six other messages on the old Mac and have yet to receive them on the new Mac. Yes, I clicked Get Mail.

Somthings going on and I'm reluctant to transfer files to this new machine intill I'm confident all the kinks are worked out.

Any ideas here?

First of all,   Chrlz.

I/we have 2 Macs also, connected wirelessly to the internet via an Airport... and I have also notoced, at times, that one or the orther will 'ding' with the 'recieved message' alert and the other will not...  and while I don't know the cause NOR a fix...  I have found that ending the email app and restarting it will then cause the 'missing' message/s to show up ...

I'm sure someone will show up shortly with a better and more exact fix.

If you're using Mac OS X 10.4 or later, have the Connection Doctor make a house call. In Mail, choose Connection Doctor from the Window menu to have it check your server connections. If it finds any trouble, it'll display a red Status indicator next to the problematic account and provide some information and advice in the Details column. If you see a red indicator, follow the doctor's advice to try and fix the issue."

First, a big Welcome Aboard, Chriz!

Now, about those messages...
1. Do you have the two programs ( Mail, I assume ) set to delete messages after downloading them?
2. Are both computers always running at the same time?
3. Are both iMacs always running Mail?

My suspicions are that which ever Mac/Mail downloads the message, it will not be seen on the other. Or one is set to delete the messages and the other is not.

As for the speed difference, I can't help. You may have different apps/filters/etc. running on the different machines. Are you using a router? Or does one machine access the other to get to the 'net?
