Frozen App (Flickr Uploader)
« on: April 15, 2007, 12:09:49 PM »
To the LIST,

I've had my iMac for two weeks now and have some problems with it. I will explain the one here that is consistent with the Message Title . This is an open App that is frozen and it will not Quit! The Mac will not shut down unless the app is closed. It is a Flickr Uploader Application that halted and froze while uploading photos. I have not received any info from Flickr (as of yet) regarding this problem. I welcome any recommendations here to get this thing to 'Quit'. Maybe a Command line in Terminal would help, but don't know any Unix, Darwin, or whatever.

Regards,
Chrlz

Chrlz-Glad you're here!

To force quit an application, from the Apple menu, choose Force Quit... . Then select the misbehaving application from the list, and click the Force quit button. Alternatively, you can also bring up this window by pressing Cmd-Option-Esc

Cmd is the Apple key

Also, in case that doesn't work, here is an entire page devoted to "When Force Quit Doesn't Work".

Not one at a time, all three keys at once.

Chriz,

If the above does not work, this most always does.

1. Go to Computer/Applications/Utilities/Activity Monitor
2. Once Activity Monitor is launched, go to the menu bar and select Window>Activity Monitor (Command+1)
3. At the top of the Activity Monitor window, in the drop down menu, select “All Processes”
4. Scan down the list of processes until you find the Flickr application.
5. Click on that once to highlight it, then click on the red stop sign (top left).
6. When presented with the alert window, click on "Force Quit".
