And that doesn't take into account the number of people who have their browsers set to be identified as IE just to get around site problems.

Over 6%!

We're becoming a force to be reckoned with!

Why, in another 75 years or so, we could be the dominant users of the internet!
Ya gotta applaud those bunnies for sacrificing their hearing just so some guy in Cupertino can have better TV reception.

Just used four browsers in an effort to get on to the National Health Service's appointment webpage - Safari and Firefox on the G5, IE 5.1 and iCab on the G3 - and each tells me my browser is not compatible with the bookings page. I've sent a message suggesting it would help if they told us which browsers DO work and asked when I'll be able to book with a Mac... I'm not holding my breath. Bear in mind this is a Government "service" which is supposed to be for all citizens.

I did eventually discover that by downloading a plug-in (whose name I got here but can't now remember!) I could get Safari to access the page by pretending to be Windows MSIE 6.0.

BUT I SHOULDN'T HAVE TO!!!!!

Nor should you have to have javascript nor Java enabled! but too many web 'developers' are too lazy to figure out ways to do the same thing without them. The Health Service site, probably makes use of some ActieX routines that only Explorer can use, and even then only on a Windows machine. Or it may just be checking for that specific browser as the agent it wants to 'talk' to. At one time Explorer offered a higher security level, but that was long ago and far away! smile.gif

I think the whole attitude of some IT departments needs to be 'load shed' and re-started! rant.gif Just don't hold your breath, you'll turn blue, same color as some 'screens of death'! tongue.gif
