somehow I doubt they will really donate the money raised from auction... sorry.
Unfortunately, your skepticism is well founded. Not that I know anything about this one, but why take a chance? Just give to a well known charity and you'll sleep better.
There was just a report on the TV about Americans being more generous than any other "tribe". Sure, in general, we have more, but most of the donations come from middle class folks, not the wealthy. Only a few who have more than they know what to do with actually part with much of it.
