"Sent" folder won't import

To Tiger Mail.  And there are many, many many messages.

Can it be done?
Do not fear your enemies.  The worse they can do is kill you.  Do not fear friends.  At worst, they may betray you.
Fear those who do not care; they neither kill nor betray, but betrayal and murder exist because of their silent consent.

Can it be done?"

Of course it can.

Use the "Import Mailboxes" function, under the File Menu.

Are you using MAIL version 2.1.1 (752.3)  ? or an outdated version ?

Tried that.  Didn't do it.

Using version 2.0, in Tiger, Panther was 1.3.11.  How do I get 2.1.1?  It didn't come through in SU, but then I didn't do 10.4.10 update.  Seemed it caused a problem with one online game I enjoy, and didn't want to jump that hurdle today.

Could be because the two versions store mail differently (apparently), Jennie:

You could try following the suggestions in the last post of the linked thread - even though the discussion is geared to going the other direction.

I should clarify-All other Mail imported, it is only the sent items that haven't.

I've tried a couple of suggestions, I'll keep at it and report results.

Jennie, I'm wondering if the mailbox is somehow a bit messed up and perhaps might benefit from a rebuild? Just a guess - I'm actually new to using Mail full-time, as I finally had to give up on Entourage because it developed corruption issues I couldn't fix. Rebuild wouldn't work and things were behaving oddly enough that I was worried about losing all my mail. Probably my fault as I had close to 35,000 messages stored altogether. I'm working on pruning those now - but doing it in Mail. Down to 20,000 or so...(and no, I wasn't keeping the spam!!)

If you try to import from MAIL to MAIL from LEOPARD to TIGER it will fail.

In the other direction it works.

Flash, please stop YELLING. Use regular font sizes please - we're not blind.

Further, nobody other than developers have Leopard yet - it's not out until October. Jennie is importing her mail from Panther to Tiger and only one box (sent mail) is refusing to import.

I am not well-sighted. I assume that there are others who are visually challenged as well.
I have never understood why others object to my tendency to format text, but I need to accept that.

You are plainly wrong re: Leopard when you say that " ... nobody ..."   I am not a developer and I have been operating both Tiger and Leopard on different partitions for a VERY long time. Yes, these are "Developers Seed" copies of Leopard that Apple updates and distributes regularly. The current build is rather stable.  Although those who dwell here at T.S. tend to have a majority tendency to lag behind in Operating Systems, hardware, and software; I assume that some will be updating their Operating System in a couple of weeks.

In any case, I apologize for being an abrasive old gas bag.       rofl.gif

I've noticed that listed under your name and your statement of being an X-Prez of a Users Group so I couldn't just conclude that you were a novice and didn't know that SCREAMING was considered rude.

You come here with what you have, and questions or answers to contribute. I liked system 7, I liked Windows 95, I like Ubuntu, XP works for me, as did OS 8, 9, and X.

We're trying to help People not make them feel like they're not worthy, smart, or not up to date. There are some folks here that will have the first released issues of Leopard and others that will never have it. If it has no practical application to what you do with a computer then what's the point of acquiring something just for the sake of having it? Hobby? Some folks just use their Macs for work and the rest of their lives are filled with Living, not twisting code to their command. Some folks like twisting code, some get tangled up in Blue.

Have a nice day! hi.gif

Flash, if you are using a developer seed copy of Leopard and are NOT a developer, you're not doing so legally. I assume you know that. There is a legally binding non-disclosure agreement that any legal developer (who has paid good money for the privilege, BTW) signs and part of that agreement involves not distributing the software to others. From an InfoWeek article dated August 14, 2006 - over a year ago:

QUOTE
Attendees at last week's Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) received copies of the beta ware and had to sign legally binding agreements not to let Leopard stray onto file-sharing networks. Perhaps someone didn't read the not-so-fine print?

MacUser reports that this version of Leopard is indeed legit, unlike a fake one that was reportedly making its rounds last week. The version of Leopard available on BitTorrent is 4.3GB, containing 93 files.

History shows that Apple does not take kindly to leaks. Last December, the company went after three folks who made Mac OS X Tiger available on BitTorrent. The company settled with one of the leakers last Marc
